TRIBUTE to Very Special Friends

Meet some of the special friends we have made along our way... these animals entered our shelter due to circumstances beyond their control. They were pulled from death sentences and from life-threatening situations and placed with loving, caring foster families. A strong support system of vet care gave them a new chance at life... and yet, in spite of all our best efforts, they have lost their lives. These animals have touched us deeply with their will to live, aim to please and love shared. Please take a moment to read about our special "kids."

LadyBird
October 26, 2005 - November 29, 2005 - Ladybird came to Shelter from the Storm by chance. She was put on a transport on October 26, 2005. Nicole picked her up and her new life began with us. She found an amazing foster family who saw potential and love in her eyes! It didn't take them long before they went from foster parents to official parents on November 12, 2005. They gave her a lease at new life. Melinda and Jeremiah love Ladybird in spite of and because of her short comings. They took her to training class and Agility...believe it or not Ladybird was quite agile! Melinda and Jeremiah showed Ladybird the love and understanding she had never known before.

Just this side of heaven is a place called Rainbow Bridge. When an animal dies that has been especially close to someone here, that pet goes to Rainbow Bridge. There are meadows and hills for all of our special friends so they can run and play together. There is plenty of food, water and sunshine, and our friends are warm and comfortable. All the animals who had been ill and old are restored to health and vigor; those who were hurt or maimed are made whole and strong again, just as we remember them in our dreams of days and times gone by. The animals are happy and content, except for one small thing; they each miss someone very special to them, who had to be left behind.

They all run and play together, but the day comes when one suddenly stops and looks into the distance. His bright eyes are intent; His eager body quivers. Suddenly he begins to run from the group, flying over the green grass, his legs carrying him faster and faster.

You have been spotted, and when you and your special friend finally meet, you cling together in joyous reunion, never to be parted again. The happy kisses rain upon your face; your hands again caress the beloved head, and you look once more into the trusting eyes of your pet, so long gone from your life but never absent from your heart.

Then you cross Rainbow Bridge together.... We will see you all on the other side. We are better people for having known you for a short time
