27 Pet Oxygen Mask sets delivered to Bedford County Fire & Rescue
Bedford Humane Society announces conclusion of campaign A total of 27 Pet Oxygen Mask sets have been delivered to Bedford County Fire & Rescue, exceeding the original goal of 24 established by the Bedford Humane Society last August. "The response from the Bedford Community was fantastic." says Mary Beverley, Humane Society President. "We would like to thank everyone who contributed to making Bedford a safer place for pets." In total, over $1600 in donations were received from caring citizens, community and school groups. The cone-shaped plastic masks are used to resuscitate dogs, cats and small pets who are overcome from smoke inhalation during a fire. Rescuers have said that because animals have smaller lung capacity than humans, they are more affected by smoke inhalation. Having oxygen masks on hand counteracts that vulnerability and saves the time needed to transport the pet to a veterinarian. |
Sincere thanks to: Carol
Cady for making this campaign a success! |
