Ways to Donate 

The Bedford Humane Society is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization.  Your donation of any size, is tax deductible. 

GuideStar is an independent information service that compiles information about the operations and finances of non profit organizations.  Click on the logo to view our Guidestar profile.  A financial statement is also available upon request from the State Office of Consumer Affairs in the Virginia Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services .

All monetary donations are acknowledged in our Quarterly newsletter.

Three ways to help:

1) SELL - If you already sell on Ebay, you can donate from 10% to 100% of the value of any of your items.  Just click on the Ebay Giving Works logo above, and once on their page, click on the 'sell' tab for more info. 

2) BUY - Click on the Ebay Giving Works logo above for a list of our items for sale. 

3) DONATE an ITEM.  If you have an item of some value, that we might be able to sell on Ebay, please feel free to drop the item off at our headquarters at 829 Ole Turnpike Drive.  Item should be unusual enough that someone would be willing to buy it on Ebay and pay the additional shipping charges for it.  

We are a registered charity with the CVC, the Virginia State employee charity drive.  If you are an employee of the Commonwealth of Virginia, please consider selecting The Bedford Humane Society during the next annual drive.  Click on the logo above to view our profile. 

If you are employed elsewhere, check to see if your employer has a "Matching Gifts" program.

Bedford County residents - when you purchase an animal friendly license plate,  
$ 15.00 of the $ 25.00 fee is used to fund our low cost spay/neuter program.

DONATE A KURANDA DOG BED
Through a special program with Kuranda dog beds you can now donate a bed for a needy animal at reduced costs. Please consider donating a bed so our foster animals can rest in comfort while awaiting their new homes. For more info, please click here.

Raise funds for the animals thru Food Lion's Shop & Share program  Register your MVP card and a  portion of the value of your Food Lion purchases will be donated to the Bedford Humane Society !

BHS has joined the Purina Pro Club.  By sending in the weight circles from Purina dog food, we can earn certificates toward veterinary care for our foster animals.  If you use Purina DOG foods, you can help us by saving your weight circles.  This program applies to all Purina products EXCEPT the ones listed below.  Please mail your weight circles to us at:  Bedford Humane Society, PO Box 1293, Bedford, VA   24523.  Thank you for your support.

Your donation of any size, is tax deductible, and could help a homeless dog or cat find a loving home. A financial statement is available from the State Office of Consumer Affairs in the Virginia Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services upon request.  All monetary donations are acknowledged in our Quarterly newsletter.  

MEMORIALS: If you would like to donate "In Memory of" a special person or pet, please include their information with your donation.

BEQUESTS

Including the Bedford Humane Society in your will or trust is a lasting legacy for the animals of Bedford County.  Many of our current programs and services have been made possible by people like you who had the foresight to include the Bedford Humane Society in their estate plans.

Ways to give through wills and trusts:

• Leave a specific dollar amount
• Designate that a percentage of your estate be given through your will or living trust.
• Give only the remainder, or residue, of your estate - that which remains after bequests to loved ones have been made.
• Provide for a gift of specific property - for example, real estate, stocks or other items. 

You may designate that a bequest be used for general purposes, or go to support any of the Bedford Humane Society's various programs, such as:

• Adoption Center Capital Campaign 
• Low-cost spay/neuter
• Trap-Neuter-Release program for feral cats 
• Veterinary expenses 

To avoid confusion with other organizations, it is important that the language in your bequest adequately identifies The Bedford Humane Society  as your intended recipient.  The following is suggested language for such a bequest:

" I give and bequeath to The Bedford Humane Society Inc., a 501c3 charitable organization, PO Box 1293, Bedford, VA 24523, Federal Tax ID # 54-1699676, the sum of $_____________, to be used for the accomplishment of its general purposes (or for a specific purpose, as indicated)."
