TURN AROUND "MICKEY" - THE LIGHT OF OUR LIFE

The day we left the Hickory Hill k-9 center with "milky way" aka "Mickey", he sat in my lap and looked up at me with those beautiful eyes. I so wanted to ove her and you could tell she so needed someone to love her back. I was a little apprehensive though, all of our previous poms had been "blonde
bombshells" and here I was looking down at a sable/black pom. But I very soon found out that the color did not matter in the least, the dogs were the same. All poms have that ability to steal your heart and run with it. I scratched her back and she just did that Head roll thing she does (that she continues to do today) like boy that really feeeeeels good, keep doing it.

We took her home with our other blonde poms and she just fell into a (her) routine. She made her way to our "open" pantry with tile floor, and settled herself down on the floor an dared anyone or any animal to come near the two entrance doors. She is still there today, not because she has to be, she has the full roam and domain of the house, but because she feels safe with that "made myself" confinement. We recognized, right away that was what she was used to and allowed her to have the pantry as her own. She is still there - guarding everything...but she has absolutely become
Mickey and Minnie
the highlight of all of our days. She comes out in the evening and stays with us in the den and she sleeps in our bedroom on the tile floor bathroom area. She has found her little corner of the world in each one of our rooms. All we have to do is look at her and it brightens our day. Not only have I grown to love her but I hate to leave her, every. She travels with us most of the time when we go out.

She turns around in circles (clockwise always) all the time. She has done that since we picked her up, from day 1. She does it when she is excited, when she wants to eat, when she wants to go outside. Everything is done clockwise. She is a part of our family now and will continue to be so forever. We named her "Mickey" to go with our other blonde Pom "Minnie" but also it sounded like "Milky Way" her original name. So she did not have to get use to a new name, they both sounded the same.
