Madeline

Madeline, (a senior Pug), was brought to Hickory Hill in the earlier months of 2009.  She had lived a hard life of being bounced around from place to place. She was rescued from the dark shadows of a puppy mill… as evidenced by her walking on the rolleed over tops of her feet and the apparent nerve damage done to her hips, only to spend a little bit of time in a home that would turn around an abandon her and others a short while later. For several months, she would not make a noise other than a few grunts and was afraid to be left alone. She would panic when going for short car rides, relaxing only when getting back into the car to return home.

After living with our family, Madeline has learned that it is ok to bark out loud and now speaks up to beg for food and to play. She has now learned how to walk on her feet normally and with some TLC, is overcoming the problems with her hips. She spends many happy hours either outside chasing and barking at squirrels (as far as her lead will let her), sleeping on her fluffy pink pillow, and taking baths in the sink. She now enjoys traveling with the family and partakes in stoller rides when going for walks. She stands proudly now with the dignity of knowing she is part of a family that loves her and will not drop her off.
