Dear Hickory Hill K-9

When I lost my 10 year old Golden Retriever Holly to cancer in December 2008, I was devastated. She was my baby.  I vowed I wouldn't have another anytime soon, but after only 5 short weeks I came to the conclusion that my life just didn't work without a dog to love.  Then, I found Petfinders.com.  I had what I thought was an impossible idea of the dog I would one day get.  Then, while scrolling down the pages of Golden Retrievers available for adoption, I found my saving Grace.  I immediately contacted Hickory Hill about Gracie and found out her sad story.  She had been adopted from an animal shelter by a family who decided not to keep her.  When she was turned over to Hickory Hill, they discovered that she was heartworm positive.  Hickory Hill agreed to let me foster Gracie during her long treatment.  It was not a fun process, but she came through with flying colors and is doing great.  She now has a "mom" who loves her as well as an extended family who adores her.  She loves to run in her fenced yard and is often waiting at the front window for me when I get home from work.  She is a joy and pleasure. I can't thank Hickory Hill Canine Rescue enough for giving me the chance to give her a forever home.  This photo is one that my niece took a couple of weeks ago.  We all went to the park together where Gracie gets lots of playing time and attention from the kids.

Heartfelt thanks from a happy home.
