Beamer's story.

Our family was ready for another puppy and we decided to go to a rescue site. We knew that we wanted a hound or a beagle. My girlfriend told me about Hickory Hill K-9, that is where she got her dog. So we went on Petfinder and did a search. Looked at many dogs from many places and this seamed to be the best place. We narrowed it down to about 4 puppies. We made the appointment to go and see the dogs. Once there we walked around and heard all the dogs stories that we were thinking about adopting. After hearing all the stories we went to play with them one at a time. Once we got to play with Beamer I just knew that he would be the perfect fit for our family. We all fell instantly in love with him so we decided to give him the chance that no one after 2 years would do. We thought it would be harder to pick then it was but you know the poor dog loved the kids and us. He picked us, I know that he did.

Beamer is an awesome dog. He hasn't used the house as a potty. He asks to go out and be walked. Now the first couple of days he drove us crazy with asking to go out every 5 minutes. My mom said it is because he wasn't use to being inside. I think she was correct. The first night, well the first 2 weeks he slept in our bed until we could trust him to not be with us. He now sleeps with the kids. With going out we don't pen him. We did put him in the bathroom at first but decided to try him out and he does great. The only time he gets put away is if someone has to come into our apartment when we aren't at home. We aren't afraid that he will hurt anyone since all he wants is to be loved but we are afraid that he will either get out when they open the door or beg them to take him out since that is what he is use to. Come in the house and I get to go out.

Here is a funny story that I like to share with everyone. We take him to a dog park since he is use to playing with dogs and so he will get to run around. Well one day the kids decided that they wanted to go to the play ground so Mommy took them and Daddy stayed with him in his park. Beamer decided that he doesn't like being away from the kids and started to climb the fence. Daddy put a stop to that and Beamer decided that since you won't let me climb (something that we heard that he likes to do), he decided that he will dig his way out. We have learned that if we take the kids with us they will have to stay in the Beamer playground....

Everyone tells us that we got a great Christmas Present since we got him 2 days before Christmas. But I think that Beamer got the best Christmas Present, a loving family that gave him something that he needed, a loving home. I am so happy that we found him or should I say he found us. He is extremely happy with us and you can tell he is always smiling and so are we.
