Fidget

Fidget is an 11 pound male chocolate dapple longhair dachshund. Fidget was adopted in January of 2001. He was an "only dog" for over 4 years until dachshund Zephyr joined the family in 2005. A third dachshund, Harley, joined the family in 2006. Fidget loves stuffed toys and thinks it's his personal mission to "de-stuff" and "de-squeak" them all.

Fidget is an avid squirrel chaser and sits patiently at the back sliding door watching and waiting. When he spots a squirrel, he starts to squirm and eventually cries and yips with excitement. The second the door slides open, he bolts after the squirrel with remarkable dachshund speed, announcing himself with barks and yips and squeals. The element of surprise is NOT Fidget's strong point.

Fidget was the valedictorian of his Petsmart obedience class, mastering "sit", "stay", "roll over", "spin", and "low five". He loves to perform his tricks for treats. He especially loves chewing on Merrick's Texas Toothpicks.

Like every dachshund, Fidget is spoiled rotten. He's a couch potato and enjoys watching TV with the rest of the family. He loves sleeping in the bed and burrows under the covers. He's well traveled, having been to 11 states so far. He loves car rides and frequently gets to run errands with the family. Fidget also likes motorcycle rides and jet-ski rides. He has his own Harley duds - a denim vest, skull cap and Doggles - and a life vest for when he's on the water. Another favorite activity is barking and biting at water - the sprinklers, waves in a lake, the garden hose. He'll bark and bite at water until he looks like a drowned rat!

Fidget will always be our "first-born" - a very special part of our family.
