Clean Up After Your DogIt's fun to go out walking with your dog, but always remember to clean up after your dog. No one wants to step in pet waste, and pet waste can pollute area creeks, rivers and lakes. When it rains, pet waste can wash from streets and yards into storm drains, carrying bacteria, parasites and viruses to creeks and lakes. Storm water is not treated before it reaches the nearest body of water. This over abundance of bacteria and nutrients can deplete the oxygen that fish and other aquatic life need for survival.Reduce this type of pollution by picking up after your pet! Pet waste should also be removed from your yard - it is not fertilizer. Always carry disposable bags while walking your dog to pick up and dispose of his waste. If you see someone else walking who needs bag, have extras so you can offer them one! Be a good example of a responsible pet owner. Not everyone in our world likes dogs, and the quickest way to alienate "non-dog" lovers is to allow your dog to leave behind his or her "calling card"!
