"Red" is Ready to Fetch

Red loves toys! He loves balls, he loves stuffed toys, he loves rubber squeaky toys, but most of all he loves playing fetch! We don't come across too many dachshunds that like to chase after toys, and even fewer that will actually bring the toys back to you! But Red loves to play fetch, and will gladly retrieve a toy for hours on end.

When you've had enough of throwing the toys for Red, he does a great job of entertaining himself by tossing his toys around the room and running after them. Red does like to chew up and de-squeak stuffed toys, however, so be prepared for the inevitable piles of stuffing.

Red is a bit timid outdoors, and hesitates to do much exploring of the back yard. Like many dachshunds, he does not like wet grass! Red prefers to observe the things outside and doesn't spend much time wandering around the yard. We think he just wants to get back inside to where the toys are!

Red is quite the clown. His foster Mom broke into hysterical laughter the day Red wandered in to her office with this toy stuck on his head! He seemed to like "wearing" it, and even used it as his pillow as he later took a nap. (Honestly, we did NOT place this toy on his head - he managed to do it all on his own!)

Red has plenty of energy and is alert but not overly active. He entertains himself well and takes occasional naps. He gets along fine with his foster siblings and would do well in a home with other dogs, but he's not particularly interested in playing with other dogs. Red likes to have the security of being near his people, but he is not clingy or needy. He enjoys car rides and is anxious to go along when running short errands. He knows how to "sit" for treats and is a very good eater. He's happy and friendly and loves everyone he meets. But beware - Red loves giving kisses - LOTS and LOTS of them. He's definitely a dachshund that can't hold his licker!

Red loves to lounge on the couch in the evenings with his foster family as they watch TV. He prefers to curl up under a blanket to sleep. At night, he sleeps in his crate in the bedroom with no fuss, and doesn't mind "sleeping in" in the mornings.

Red would love to come curl up with YOU!
