Heidi has been with the rescue program since the summer of 2010, but had an approved adopter patiently waiting for the day when Heidi could join their
family. She was finally old enough to be spayed, and now has a loving home with a veterinarian and his family. This lucky little dog has her very own veterinarian on call for any
of her needs. Heidi was the 45th, and final adoption for the 2010 calendar year for
this organization. We know Heidi will have a great 2011 - and a great rest of her life - with
her new family!

Lucky
Elliot is celebrating the New Year in his new, forever home! His family says "Elliott quickly found the key to our hearts". He loves to play with his longhair dachshund brother, and every night he gets to sleep in the "big bed" with his family. We are thrilled that Elliott now has a home with people who love and treasure him. Hurrah for Elliott!

Chloe, made much faster strides in developing confidence than we first anticipated, once she was in a foster home, separate from her litter mate. Our vet then determined that Chloe could be spayed sooner than January, so that was done in preparation for adoption. Chloe had learned a lot from her her special foster guardian dog Winston and we decided she was definitely ready for a forever home. A lovely couple
with many years experience in dachshund ownership was seeking a companion for themselves and for their little chiweenie male dog who had been adopted from an area
animal shelter. When we took Chloe for a home visit, it was clear that she and Max clicked,
and she and the couple clicked as well. It was good to see that this was the right home
for Chloe, and just as importantly, the right dog for this household. We are delighted
that Chloe has found a home where she is loved and cherished. Congratulations Chloe!

Kiki found a home with a wonderful retired couple who are at home most of the day. She loves going in and out of her dog door and napping on the couch while her family watches TV or works on the computer. Regular walks are part of her new life. Her new family says "we couldn't be happier with this little dog". Yeah Kiki!

A wonderful couple came to us, looking to adopt not one dachshund but two. They fell in love with
Eddie and also with Ziva, and adopted them both. One of the owners works out of the house, so Eddie and Ziva have companionship during the day. They have a huge yard where they can run and chase squirrels, and sun bathe to their hearts content. Their new family appreciates the wonderful personality that each of these dogs have, and we are thrilled that Eddie has a forever home!
|
|
Ziva was adopted along with Eddie from our rescue program. The people wanted two dogs, and the personalities of both these dogs fit in beautifully with the family. Now Ziva has a beautiful yard in which she can run and chase squirrels to her hearts content, aided by Eddie, of course. Their new family is appreciating the loving nature of both these dogs, and we are delighted that the dogs have the forever home that they needed and deserved.

Logan, our beautiful standard longhair dachshund, has found his forever home. His new owner reports that Logan has settled in beautifully and enjoys his two dachshund buddies. He loves to sleep on the bed and relax with his new owner. What a wonderful life for this great dog; who once was cast out on a country road, abandoned and unwanted. Now he has a great new life! We thank his new owner for giving him that great new life!

A couple who had adopted from us previously spotted
Marlie's picture and were immediately captivated. Once they met her, she was definitely the one for them. Marlie joins a home with several other dogs, and two people to love. This little dachshund was one of the most precious dogs that has ever come through the program--we still wonder why no one came looking for her at the shelter. However, we are glad that we were there to step in and find her a true forever home. Yeah Marlie!

Now he will have a loving family to care for him for the rest of his life!

Roosevelt had a long stay with us, but it was worth it. He found a lovely home with previous adopters who have another male dachshund from our program. They were ready for a second dachshund, and "Roozy" as he came to be known, was just right. He had wonderful care with devoted foster parents, and they were sad to see him go..but happy that he has a wonderful new home. This is the day we all look forward to....the day the dog graduates from our rescue program into a wonderful new home! Hurrah for Roozy!

Merlin, now re-named "Buddy", found a wonderful home with previous adopters who have a female dachshund from our program. Merlin's sweet face and wonderful personality won them over, and now he can look forward to a life with lots of love, walks and trips in an RV! Merlin (Buddy) thinks he won the doggie lottery with his new life, and we think so too. After a five month stay in our rescue program,
Max found a wonderful home with a family who was seeking a lovable companion. Max immediately showed us at the home visit that he thought this was a great place; and the family felt the same way. After a couple of weeks, it was hard for them to imagine that Max hadn't always lived there! "Graduation Day" (aka "adoption day") is a happy day for our volunteers. We shook Max's paw and wished he and his new family the very best! Yeah Max!

Jake was adopted by a lovely family, with a daughter who had always wanted a dachshund. He joined another rescue dog who was already part of the family. Jake has settled in beautifully, and his family can hardly believe how quickly this little dog won their hearts. We appreciate the family's commitment to looking to adoption when it comes to adding a dog to the family. Hurrah for Jake and his new family!

Miss
Lani our one and only "dachshund comedian" has found her forever home with a couple who has adopted previously from our organization. Lani's peppy and humorous personality really appealed to them, and she is fitting in beautifully into her new home. The happiest day for our rescue volunteers is when we can "shake a dog's paw" and congratulate the dog on his or her new home. Today was that day for Lani! Now re-named "Daisy Doodle", she has a bright future ahead of her.

Austin's adoption has been finalized, and he has been re-named "Maverick". We were proud to shake his paw and congratulate him on his new home, with a lovely couple who have a special love for wirehair type dachshunds. "Maverick" has two other dachshund siblings, and he is fitting in beautifully to his new home. He is going to have lots of opportunities to participate in dog activities now; and we hear that earthdog, obedience and possibly therapy work are in his future. Congratulations Maverick! We are so happy for you!!!

Princess Violet found her forever home--and now as fairy tales say--she can live "happily ever after!" A lovely couple was seeking an adult dachshund to share their life with and Princess Violet was a great match for them. She loves to go out on a walk, but is also happy hanging out on the couch while her family watches movies. Taking the time to get the right match for the dog and the people really makes the difference. Three cheers for the Princess and her new family!

So great that these two young dogs have a wonderful new life together!

Leo was spoken for quickly once he entered our program, but had some vet work to fiinish and needed to complete the minimum stay requirement. His new owners waited eagerly for the day that Leo could go home with them and we have already had glowing reports about what a wonderful, sweet little dog is. We weren't surprised - that's what we thought too! Leo will be traveling regularly with his new owners, and we hope he'll send the rescue foundation a postcard!

As we suspected, we had lots of interest from people wanting to adopt little
Suki.
We wish we had several dachshunds like her because we had some wonderful applicants. Suki was adopted by a couple who had a middle aged dachshund and who were looking to add a second dachshund to their home. Suki's gentle, but playful personality immediately won them over and she adjusted to their home very quickly. They are very happy with their new companion, and we are happy that Suki can live the rest of her life with people that truly love and cherish her. That's what rescue is all about--giving wonderful dogs a second chance at a happy home. Hurrah for Suki!

Wilma has a new family and a new name - Winnie. Just as we thought, this little dog had a short stay in rescue. Her wonderful, happy personality wowed everyone, and our vet staff said "this one won't stay in your rescue program very long". Wilma loves her new family, and enjoys the company of a larger hound mix dog. She is happy to play with toys and equally happy to hang out in a family member's lap. We know we've done our job when we find the right home for the dog, and the right dog for the home. Our work is finished with Wilma, and her new life is well underway. Hurrah for Wilma - or should we say Winnie.

A couple who had been on our waiting list for a male longhair dachshund quickly fell in love with this dog and waited until he was well so he could be adopted into the their home. Despite his scary experience of being caught in a trap, he has blossomed in his new home and is a happy, affectionate fellow. He is learning a lot of new things via the clicker training method and we are all happy to see this great dog learn and develop so well in his new home. Yeah Truman!
