Volunteer Work Available

There are many things which have to be done to continue to save animals locally. If you can do one of them please call 361-775-0154 or email us at lcrpets1@yahoo.com.  Every volunteer helps lighten the load of the rest.

1.  Help keep the adoptions and housing facility appealing by planting and gardening in front of the building and around the trees.

2.  Help more animals find homes by answering the phone in the office and do adoptions on Monday's from 11-2.

3.  Fostering Sick and/or Injured animals or fostering puppies/kittens or dogs/cats.

4.  Help educate people about their new pets by making adoption packets which need to be put together monthly. This entails sorting and stapling packets of papers together. This activity can be done at your home or as a group activity or project (like Scouts).

5.  Help prevent future unwanted animals by doing "Call Backs" on animals which have been adopted to check on the how the animal is doing and insuring that they are spay and neutered as required by state law. Happy Tails make our job worthwhile.

6.  Help make the animals stay in the kennels more comfortable. We would like to have a volunteer to come in and clean the kennels every Wednesday. This will take approximately 3 hours, and involves changing the food and water and cleaning all of the dog kennels and cat cages in the facility.

7.  Help make the animals life more comfortable and fun with walks and baths as needed.

8.  Help make puppies socialized by holding them and playing with them.

9.  Help animals get adopted by putting up flyers.  Our goal is to have a flyer in every business (which will allow it) in Portland, Ingleside, Aransas Pass and Rockport, and San Patricio County.

10.  Help keep the place appealing to the public looking for new pets. We clean the facility weekly, we like to do a general cleaning of vacuuming, scrubbing the floors, and putting things away and straightening up.

11. Help animals without being there. Send your email address to receive, print and post a flyer where you work, work out, worship, shop, get beautiful, or play.

12. Help the animals AND the environment. Collect and redeem aluminum cans at a local recycling center and donate the money to Last Chance Rescue to help pay for veterinary care for sick or injured animals.

13. Help plan a fundraiser or promote adoptions where you work or go to church.

14. Recycle your old sheet/towel/dog houses/collars/leashes/dog bowls

15. Drive animals from Tiner Lane in Ingleside to Critter Love in Portland 2 times a week for adoptions and return any animals which have not been adopted back to Tiner Lane.
