Make Adoption the Only Option!

Adoption Process

Thank you for considering animal adoption. Muttley Crew is a little different than other agencies. None of our animals leave the adoption the same day you meet them. Please understand that this is for their good, as well as your own. Most of these animals have come to be in our care because of abuse or abandonment. We want to prevent this from happening to them again. We also want to make sure the dog is right for your home and that you are the right human for the dog.

Qualifications

  • Be at least 21 years old
  • Have a valid drivers license or other photo I.D. and proof of current address
  • All adults living in the household must consent to the adoption
  • Be able to show verification that pets are allowed on the property in which you reside
  • Furnish proof of pet deposit if required
  • Be able to furnish personal and/or veterinary references
  • Current pets must be free of contagious illnesses, up to date on vaccinations and be spayed or neutered.
  • You must be able to commit to the necessary time and money to provide the proper care for a pet, including food, shelter, veterinary care, grooming, training and toys--for your pet's lifetime
  • You must be physically and mentally able to care for this animal.

Application

Fill out our application (requires Microsoft Word) and email it to us, or download the adobe acrobat application. If you can't email it to us, bring it to our next adopt-a-pet (dates and times on the home page), but let us know which dog you are interested in by email so we can make sure and bring them. After the application is completed and returned, an independent committee will review the application and select the best home environment for the companion. Normally, this process takes less than week.

Adoption Fee

There is a $150.00 adoption fee. This fee partially reimburses Muttley Crew for the vet expenses necessary while the animal was in our care. All of our dogs are current with vaccinations, which include, DHA2LPPC (Distemper, Hepatitis, Adenovirus type 2, Parvovirus, Parainfluenza, Leptospria, Corona), Rabies, and Bordetella. They are heartworm tested, treated if positive, and placed on monthly heartworm preventative. Most importantly, they are spayed or neutered. Often, additional medical care is required for heartworm treatment, orthopedic surgeries, allergy treatments, laceration treatments and many other needs. The additional costs associated with these treatments are not passed on to the adopter. These costs are subsidized by donations and fund raising.
