These wonderful dogs need TLC. Our foster homes provide a safe place for these unloved dogs to learn what it is like to be safe, and well-fed and loved. We at Imminent Danger German Shepherd Rescue are hoping to recruit qualified foster homes to help us teach these dogs that its okay to love again, to trust again....to learn to just be good canine citizens.

In addition to providing the all-important TLC we also ask that our foster families help brush up the skills that make a dog more adoptable - house manners and learning to walk on a lead and taking treats gently etc... If you have the time and energy and the love to give a Foster Dog, we need you!

Imminent Danger German Shepherd Rescue provides the veterinary care and would like it if the foster homes can cover the food for their foster dog. We will consider foster homes within a 1-2 hour radius of Greeneville, TN.

As a foster family I agree to provide nutritious meals, fresh water, grooming, a safe environment, and appropriate shelter for this foster dog.
I will not leave my foster dog tied up, especially when unattended. I will never leave my foster dog unattended in a vehicle when it is 75 degrees or hotter, even with the windows rolled down. I understand that this can cause heat stroke and the death of a dog.
I agree to arrange my family’s schedule so that the dog is seldom left alone for more than eight hours at a stretch.
I agree to play with, pet and give attention to my foster dog when I am home.
I agree to let my team leader know if there is any change in the health of the dog and will get clearance before I get anything other than emergency care for my foster dog.
I will check my foster dog regularly for any signs of illness. I will do frequent flea and tick checks on my foster dog.
I will not hit my foster dog. Instead, I will give a firm “NO!”, "EH EH EH", shake coins in a can or use a water squirt bottle to let my foster dog know that he is exhibiting bad behavior. I understand that dog trainers acknowledge that this is an ineffective way of changing bad behavior.
I will further seek to modify behavior by praising the behavior that I desire.
I agree to consult with my team leader, dog care books or videos from the library if I am experiencing any behavior difficulties with my foster dog.
I will closely supervise my dog when around children (especially children, or adults, he/she is not familiar with).
I will closely monitor my foster dog when near roadways or water, when riding in a vehicle (preferably the dog should be in a dog crate during car travel) and in any other situation which is potentially dangerous to my foster dog.
I will have my foster dog wear an ID tag with a phone number, at all times.
I agree to any home visits needed, as determined by Imminent Danger German Shepherd Rescue. I will relinquish the dog upon request.
I understand that Imminent Danger German Shepherd Rescue does its best to evaluate the temperament and behavior of each dog accepted into rescue.. I will not hold IDGSR liable for any damage the dog may do.

Imminent Danger German Shepherd Rescue exercises due caution to prevent the transmission of any illness. Unless you are notified otherwise, the animals you foster will have been given preventive immunizations. However, because of the dire circumstances from which many of the rescue animals come, any animal may carry or could have already been exposed to an infectious disease, which may not be apparent for several days. IDGSR cannot warrant or guarantee the foster dog is healthy.

Likewise, Imminent Danger German Shepherd Rescue exercises caution in regard to the temperament of all the dogs we accept into rescue. Though all have been evaluated to be of good-nature, any animal has the potential to bite or cause injury. You have determined for yourself the animal is acceptable for you and your household to foster, and you agree to indemnify and hold Imminent Danger German Shepherd Rescue volunteers and other Imminent Danger GSD Rescue representatives harmless for any illness the animal may develop and any injury or damage this foster dog may cause once you have taken possession of the animal.

Note: The adjustment period may consist of nothing more than reminding the pet of their house manners (new surroundings & family can unsettle even the best trained dogs). It may also be much more involved and require a consistent routine, dog-proofing your house, extra walks, and a crate (to either finish crate training or as a safe, secure place for one who is already trained). Submission of this foster home questionnaire means that you agree to the following provisions:

I agree to abide by the Foster Home Policies set forth by the Imminent Danger German Shepherd Rescue Board of Directors.
I understand that any foster animal in my care may be removed from my home at any time with or without reason by or on the authority of Imminent Danger German Shepherd Rescue Board.
I understand that Imminent Danger German Shepherd Rescue foster animals do not belong to me or my family.
I understand that should I want to adopt a Imminent Danger German Shepherd Rescue foster animal, it will be at the sole discretion of the Board.
I understand that I will have a strong influence in who shall adopt any foster animal in my care, but the Board has the final word in the foster pet’s adoption.
I understand that I am expected to follow up on all of my adoptions as needed and assist adopters through the adjustment period, but I am not to force the adopters to remain connected to me or Imminent Danger German Shepherd Rescue beyond that (“no strings” policy).
I am aware there is no guarantee, warranty or full knowledge of any rescued pet’s health and temperament.
I volunteer to accept the rescued animal in my charge as a humanitarian act and agree to release and hold harmless Imminent Danger German Shepherd Rescue along with Imminent Danger German Shepherd Rescue volunteers and Board members, from any and all liability or responsibility in connection with any pet(s) I agree to foster.
I hereby agree that any money (adoption or general donations) that I collect or receive on behalf of Imminent Danger German Shepherd Rescue will be turned over to Imminent Danger German Shepherd Rescue. Additionally, I hereby certify that I am in good standing with the local rescue groups and veterinarians.
I agree to uphold a professional relationship with every contact I have through Imminent Danger German Shepherd Rescue, including, but not limited to vet clinics, distributors, potential adopters, other volunteers of Imminent Danger German Shepherd Rescue , and other rescues.
