The adoption process includes filling out this
questionnaire and signing an Adoption Agreement. Although we do not
require it, we do prefer that your new family member be kept inside.
We do require a fenced area for outside play. These requirements
help us to find the the best home possible for our dogs, ensuring
that they do not return to the streets or end up in the shelters, at
risk for euthanasia. We appreciate your understanding. First and
foremost, we have the dogs' best interest in mind.
We check Vet and personal references and conduct
home visits.
Out of state adoptions are welcomed provided the
adopters cover transportation costs. We can also attempt to find
space on a volunteer transport for out of town adoptions.
Below is a rough example
of what our costs average per dog. Please keep in mind that we
receive a deeply discounted rescue rate with our vet, whose prices
are normally significantly higher. Also prices listed are for small
dogs and on most services prices increase with weight.
So the average costs
incurred for a 'healthy' dog, that only needs vaccinations,
spay/neuter and HW/Flea preventative is approximately $170. As you
can see from the prices above, many cost MUCH more.
You should also keep in
mind that the average cost to care for a large breed pet per year is
approximately $1500. This is for food, annual check-ups and things
like that. This amount could easily double or even triple should
your dog become ill and need extensive tests, surgery or other
treatments. So please carefully consider if you are able and/or
willing to invest this into your pet. If not, PLEASE wait to adopt!
