Adoption Questionnaire

The adoption process includes filling out this questionnaire and signing an Adoption Agreement when the adoption is finalized. Although we do not require it, we do prefer that your new family member be kept inside. We do require a safe, preferably fenced area for outside play and daily exercise. These requirements help us to find the best home possible for our dogs, insuring that they do not return to the streets or end up in the shelters, at risk for euthanasia. We appreciate your understanding. First and foremost, we have the dogs' best interest in mind.

We offer trial adoptions bringing the dog to your house to see how he/she fits in your environment [cats, kids, dogs etc.]. If everyone is comfortable with leaving the dog, we let him stay with you for a week as an adjustment period. If after that time, if we are in agreement, we then finalize the adoption. We offer this to help insure that our dogs and their new family are compatible. We do not want our dogs back on the streets or in shelters. We just want to make sure it is the right fit and that everyone (you and the new dog) will be happy together for many years.

All of our dogs are spayed/neutered, up to date on vaccines, have been heartworm tested [if old enough] and are on monthly heartworm & flea prevention. Any medical needs are attended to before adoption unless otherwise noted.

We check Vet and personal references.

Out of state adoptions are welcomed provided the adopters cover transportation costs. We can also attempt to find space on a volunteer transport for out of town adoptions.

Adoption Fees
Adoption fees start at $125.00 and cover a portion of our never ending food and medical expenses accrued while caring for our castaways.

Please keep in mind that the average cost to care for a large breed pet per year is approximately $1500. This is for food, annual check-ups, and monthly preventatives. This amount could easily double or even triple should your dog become ill and need extensive tests, surgery or other treatments. So please carefully consider if you are able and/or willing to invest this into your pet. If not, PLEASE wait to adopt!

This questionnaire must be COMPLETED IN FULL.
