Old Maid's Aerie
Farm and Jammery
Rosie's Cocker
Rescue Referral
is partially supported by the work here on our mountaintop farm.
Our adoptable pets and hospice cases live in a home environment.
There is no kennel and the numbers are kept intentially small. We
don't like to keep more than six dogs at any one time since that would
decrease the amount of attention given to each dog.
We
also keep dairy goats, Embden and Toulouse geese and
Silver-Laced Wyandotte chickens. The 20-acre mountaintop
farm is located in a secluded and remote corner of the Cherokee
National Forest surrounded by tree covered mountains, trout streams and
bubbling creeks.
Supporting RCCR Through the Jammery
Seasonally,
we offer homemade wild-crafted jams and jellies made from
primarily from ingredients gathered here in the mountains. The
Jammery makes blackberry jam and jelly, several varieties of
elderberry, red hots apple butter, banana nut bread jam, horsemint
sauce, pepper jellies, ginger pear chips and the famous kudzu blossom
jelly. We sometimes make gensing jelly from roots gathered
locally in very limited quatities.
We also offer Rosie's
astounding goat milk fudge when the goats are in
milk. The fudge is made from our own pure unpasteurized filtered
goat milk, the purest of chocolates, white chocolates and nut
butters. I promise if you order just once, you'll be hooked!
Another goodie we
make are homemade dog cookies, sometimes dipped in
white fudge. Fat Buddy is the official taste tester and has been
known to help himself to an entire bag.
Visiting the
Farm
We
love visitors! Please call and let us know if you intend to
visit us since we are a working farm and would like to be able to
have all our chores done before you come a'callin'! In the
meantime, please visit our virtual farm on Buzznet.
Rosie's Cocker
