Never Lose "Your Pet" Again
Why Microchipping is so important...
What is a microchip?
A microchip is a rice-sized capsule encoded with a unique identification number.
The microchip is painlessly injected (much like a vaccination) by a veterinarian,
between the shoulder blades. The microchip remains inactive until read with a hand
held scanner. The scanner easily reads the microchip to identify the lost pet by
sending a low frequency radio signal to the chip that then transmits a unique code
to the scanner. This code is then used by our Pet Recovery Specialist to locate the
pet's information. A family pet can be easily identified by the code when the 24PetWatchcall center is contacted.
Why do I want to microchip my pet? Why is a collar not
enough protection?
While dogs and cats can wear collars, collars are often broken or removed. A
microchip is a permanent device that can identify your pet in the event that he/she
is lost or stolen. Microchipping your pet increases its chances of being recovered
and quickly returned to you. As an extra precaution, owners registering their pets
in 24PetWatch are provided with a
highly-visible, ID tag that alerts a person finding your pet to contact the 24PetWatch Pet Recovery Center.
Will it hurt my pet? Is it painful?
Most pets do not react at all when the chip is inserted in the scruff of the
neck, between the shoulder blades. The needle used for the
procedure is no more painful than those used to vaccinate pets.
How much does it cost?
The cost of the microchip, collar tag and lifetime registration is a one-time fee,
which will vary between clinics and/or animal shelters. Please contact your
veterinarian or animal shelter for current pricing.
Is there an annual registration fee?
There is no fee charged for registering a pet in the 24PetWatch Pet Recovery Network.
How does 24PetWatch work? How does 24PetWatch find my pet if
he/she has been microchipped and is then lost?
In the unfortunate event that your pet is lost, it can be found by anyone. 24PetWatch Recovery Specialists will direct a finder
to take the animal to a veterinary clinic, animal control agency or shelter where
it can be scanned and the microchip number read. All of these agencies can then
contact 24PetWatch . The unique identification
number encoded on the microchip is then entered and your personal information
retrieved. Depending on the option chosen at the time of registration, either
the party who found your pet or a 24PetWatch
Pet Recovery Specialist will contact you directly to inform you of your pet's
location.
What if my pet is found injured and in need of medical
care?
In the event that your pet is lost & you can not be contacted, EmergencyCare allows a veterinarian to
administer up to $3,000 of pre-authorized immediate medical treatment for your
injured pet. (see
EmergencyCare for information). To find out more about EmergencyCare & its
benefits to registered pets in the 24PetWatch
Pet Recovery Network, go to www.petcareinsurance.com.

Are your microchips compatible in Europe?
A dog or cat with a 24PetWatch chip and proper vaccine certificates will not need
to go through the mandatory quarantine period when entering France, the UK or other
European countries with similar quarantine laws. The 24PetWatchmicrochip is ISO
compatible - meaning it can be detected and read by the ISO compatible scanners
commonly used throughout most of Europe.
Is 24PetWatch a satellite
tracking service?
No. The 24PetWatch Pet Recovery Network is an
identification service using a Radio Frequency Identification Device (RFID). The
microchip only responds to the radio frequency emitted by the scanner and is not
activated by any type of global positioning or satellite tracking system.
