![]() It is with deep regret and sadness that we announce the passing of Laura Sletner on January 23, 2009. Laura passed away suddenly in the morning. She will be greatly missed by her family and friends and of course the animals she always helped. Laura was a volunteer and board member for over 10 years and was involved in all aspects of running and helping the shelter. Producing and editing the shelter newsletter and writing press releases were some of her many responsibilities. She had many interests and volunteered for other organizations but the shelter was always first and foremost for her. Her family has requested that donations to the shelter be made in lieu of flowers. Donations can be mailed to PO Box 255, Milford PA, 18337 or use the Paypal link below to donate online. ![]() |

We are proud to be participating in DAD'S Have A Heart Program. Please send us the Proof of Purchase UPC labels from any DAD'S dog or cat food product, and the company will make a cash donation to our shelter. The shelter receives 10 cents for every UPC that we redeem. The labels may be dropped off at the shelter, or they may be mailed to the Pike County Humane Society, P.O. Box 255, Milford, PA 18337. |
![]() We are currently in the process of purchasing Kuranda Dog Beds. These are durable beds that are made of sturdy material and are guaranteed indestructible. Since some dogs don't know this and actually destroy some of them, the beds are backed by a guarantee. But the important thing is that this will elevate them from the cold floor, so we don't have to use a ton of blankets on the floor like we do now. If you would like to donate to the shelter specifically for a bed, please send in your donation and let us know what it's for. You can also go to their website (http://www.kuranda.com/main/index.asp) and donate a "Poly Resin" bed right to the shelter using the "Donate" button on the site. Once on the donation page you can choose the Pike County Humane Society from a drop-down list on the site. |
