Adoption Procedures

If you are certain that you are willing and able to devote yourself to providing a loving, permanent home for one of our furry friends, please get your whole family together and visit our shelter. Take your time and visit with several of our pets. If you have found yourself completely in love with one of the pets, an adoption counselor will help you complete an adoption application. The adoption process itself is relatively simple and upon approval, you may take your new companion home and you'll be on the road to a wonderful life with your new pet.

When you meet with your adoption counselor, you will need to provide:

  • Proof of current vaccinations, spay/neuter and licensing of the other pets in your household.
  • If you are a renter, a copy of your lease including the name and address of the landlord, or written consent from your landlord if the pet policy is not included in the lease.

If you are located a long distance from our shelter (more than an hour away), we can hold the pet for you for a short time. You should consider applying by phone (724-539-2544) prior to driving to the shelter. This will enable our staff to give you your approval status before traveling. This service may be requested when calling the shelter. If you have any questions about doing a phone application, please feel free to contact our staff for assistance.
