WV area, ......*NO* out of area adoptions will be considered,
*NO* exceptions...

Our Featured Pet: Chase Please note that our dogs are only available to those who
reside in the western PA/northwestern WV area. Update:
Chase was adopted in September and was being returned because
of a divorce. Chase lived successfully with a bossy Min
Pin and was definiitely not in charge of that duo! So Chase
is great with small dogs. --------------------------------------------
Chase is a 2-1/2 year old *really* large 116# black and
tan cropped and docked male. You could saddle him up and
take the kids for a ride, he is that wide. And that nice!
In May of 2007, he was pulled from a rural shelter where
he had been since March. He is neutered and up to date
on vaccinations. He is HW negative and housetrained. He
gets along great with other dogs, male and female, although
we do not make male/male Doberman placements. But if you
have another male breed, we can talk about it. In fact,
Chase loves to play so much, that we feel strongly that
he should go to a home with another dog that won't fear
his size, so he can play as much as he wants to. Chase
loves toys and would run around 24/7, with one in his mouth,
if you let him. He also loves his Kongs and bones and he
is hoping for a playful and active owner. He does tend
to act like his name when it comes to cats, so feline free
homes please! He is one of the most lovable and laid back
dogs we have ever had. He is great with kids, large and
small but unless your kids are extra sturdy, we prefer
children over 7 or so. Chase is not the most graceful dog
ever and furniture is fair game or agility equipment to
him, lol. Fenced in yards only, as he needs to run safely.
He doesn't grasp the dangers of cars so he will never be
an off leash dog outside of fencing. His size doesn't hint
at his speed, but fast he is! He also very much enjoys
his daily walks and as mentioned, is faster than he looks
so he would likely be happy to be a running partner as
well. He rides well in the car, although he does want to
see everything at first. He knows how to sit for what he
wants and will try it at every opportunity. We are attempting
to teach him a few other manners as well, as his large
size necessitates it. He is very focused on food so this
boy loves positive training! I guess you don't get to be
this size without loving food! He will take food from where
ever you may leave it, including your hand if you are not
careful, but he is gentle about it. He doesn't guard at
all and you can easily take things out of his mouth, but
he does not have terribly descriminating tastes right now.
He is a lover, not a fighter and he actually is giving
new meaning to the typical velcro Doberman trait. He would
not mind being in your lap, however inappropriate that
may be at his size! But he will settle for the couch or
a comfy dog bed. If you think you have enough time and
energy and room in your home, heart & life for Chase,
tell us about it.
All
adoptions require an application, a home visit and a contract.
No inquiries, including phone calls, will be processed
without
a completed application. |
Foster homes are badly needed!
We are in desperate need of volunteers,
especially those who can foster a dog. If you have time and/or
space to offer our dogs, please
complete our volunteer application.
Any amount of time that you can give is welcome. The dogs will
thank you!
A SPECIAL TRIBUTE
Grace Joffe
1937-2004
The Doberman world on this earth lost a very special woman on November
29th, 2004. Grace Joffe, known throughout the Doberman world as Grandma Grace,
the grand dame of Liquorish Dobes, passed from this world to the next. The excitement
of the Dobermans in Heaven that day was surely a site to see as they all
jostled each other to meet this wonderful woman who had loved them all so. We
would like to dedicate a portion of every effort that we make to the momentous
love that Grace had for all Dobermans. May our efforts always strive to be as
grand as Grace's dreams for Dobermans worldwide. I will always remember her encouragement
at my rescue efforts and her amazing support via phone and email. Thank you Grace
for helping me to have the strength and knowledge to continue with the work that
you so lovingly supported. I will always regret not having met you on this realm
and look forward to meeting you in the next one. We love you and we miss you
dearly.
MAKE
A DONATION!!!! EVERY PENNY WILL GO TO HELP THE DOBES IN OUR
CARE!!!
Looking
for a dog in the central/eastern PA area?
Please contact Recycled
Doberkids Rescue & Referral. They
are our “sister” rescue in the central
part of the state and if they do not have a dog that suits
you, they can refer you to other rescues in the area who
may. For other Doberman rescues around the country, please
see DPCA/COPE
directory. Please understand that each Doberman rescue
makes placements in their own self designated area. We do not
ship
dogs out
of our areas, whether you are a wonderful dog owner or not.
There are dogs badly in need of homes in each area; please
help them accordingly.

VOLUNTEERS NEEDED!
We are always in need of quality volunteers for all aspects
of rescue, including but not limited to: processing applications
such as making phone calls and doing home visits, ongoing
fund raising efforts, foster homes, administrative assistance,
etc. Every little bit helps. No amount of assistance is too
small. Our volunteers are thoroughly screened, especially
those who have contact with our rescue dogs. Foster home
expenses are paid for by the group. We are attempting to
obtain our 501C3 status, so we will need ongoing research
assistance with that as well. Please contact
us or complete
a volunteer application if you are interested.
