Similar to a walkathon, the Bunky & Judy Willis Memorial Ride / Walk will bring together riders and walkers to help make a difference. Riders and walkers interested in joining the effort can register with us for $10. You can print your sponsorship/pledge form and start signing on friends and family to support your effort in the ride or walk. The park will offer both trails for riders and trails and walkways for walkers. You will be able to ride or walk what suits you best.
The park is easily reached from I-81. Visitors should take Exit 199 and travel three miles west on PA 524 and make a right on Rt 407. Visitors coming via
U.S.
routes 6 and 11 should take PA 438 east about three miles to PA 407, then south.
We will be starting at the South Shore Fishing, mooring & boat launch area located right off route 407. View a map here.
Last year, we started off riding the snowflake trail and the frost hollow trail which looped us around up to the dam.
This was a nice trail to start with and warm up on plus it was good for every level of rider and horse and even good for walkers. For those of us who felt like riding some more, we then crossed Rt 407 and rode along the Turkey Hill Trail and some of the Abington before we came back. For walkers, you could walk along any trail you wish or walk around the lake area that we will be starting by. Lackawanna State Park offers
trails for both riders and walkers at any age and level.
