"Special Needs" Cats

(They may be "Special Needs", but to us they are really just SPECIAL.)

Greta

greta1 greta2

Greta was rescued from a Trap Neuter Return site. She was named for Greta Garbo, the silent movie star.

Greta is a special needs adoption. She has luxating patellas, basically her knee caps slide out of place. Greta is not as playful as she used to be. You can see her start to play, then stop when her knees give out.

Greta is spayed and up to date on vaccinations. Her approximate date of birth is 6/2/2008.

Update 4/17/09: The vet has diagnosed Greta to have bilateral Grade II-III luxations of her patella. The condition does not seem to be causing her current discomfort. Grade II luxations generally do not require surgical correction; However with Grade III, surgery is often necessary. In order to prevent stress on her joints (which would push her into the Grade III category), the vet recommends that Greta eliminate: high jumps, stairs, excessive rough-housing and fast starts/stops. Being adopted into a quiet household would go a long way to meeting these needs.

Please consider adopting this cat! Contact us at savingstrays@yahoo.com if you have questions about this cat's medical issues. Until the right home comes along, though, Greta will have a home with Stray Cat Blues.
