Summary: Esperanza was one of 65 cats rescued by Stray Cat Blues from a bad situation in Limerick. She has been with us for a while now, and deserves a home of her own!
Current Status: Esperanza enviously watches little kittens adopted each week. She knows that she would make someone a great cat if they would just give her a chance! She has overcome her sad start in life and is ready to move on.
Bio -
The name Esperanza means "hope" and that is exactly what this little lady has been given.
This little lady is quite the show off. See how beautiful she is and all her colors. She is a lap kitty. She will jump right into your lap and settle into it. She loves to be petted, except for in front of her tail.
Prior to coming to Stray Cat Blues, Esperanza lived her life in a cage. She had no windows to gaze out at and see the birds and butterflies like other cats. She was not able to mingle with other cats and had no guarantee of daily food or water.
She just loves attention from her foster mom and is very vocal. She says "see me".
While Esperanza does get along with the other cats in her Stray Cat Blues foster home, she would be best in a home with a mellow cat as she has an ALPHA personality.
This little lady is quite the show off as you can see by her picture. She loves to show off her tummy. What a pretty underside she has too.
Wont you please give Esperanza the love and attention that she desires and will give you in return?
Her estimated date of birth is June, 2006.

April, 2008
Esperanza was rescued from Castaway Claws N Paws, a now closed "rescue" located in Limerick, PA. Castaway operated from 2005-2008 in a barn/garage. The cats were housed in small cramped cages, many for years. The cats could not see outside. The cats at this facility had very little chance of being adopted. Unfortunately, many well-meaning people surrendered cats to this facility, thinking that they would be cared for and adopted out.
∞∞∞∞∞Throughout 2008
In 2008, Stray Cat Blues was able to bring 65 cats from Castaway into our foster homes. We also assisted the Montgomery County SPCA to remove many more and place them for adoption at their shelter.
When cats from Castaway came into our foster homes, many of them were underweight, dehydrated, and many had physical problems, including eye infections. One cat had a lame leg with sores on it. Another cat was rushed to the vet and nearly died from an infestation of intestinal parasites. Several cats had not been spayed/neutered. Some of the cats required a lot of work to overcome shyness and socialize to people.
∞∞∞∞∞August, 2009
In late 2008, Castaway Claws N Paws closed down. It had not obtained the requisite occupancy permits and the township rejected an extension for compliance with a cease and desist order issued in early 2008. The owner indicated that she was going to move elsewhere and set up a new rescue.
On 8/15/2008, The Pottstown Mercury newspaper ran a story about Castaway Claws n Paws. To read it, please CLICK HERE.
∞∞∞∞∞Stray Cat Blues has now placed all but three of the cats rescued from Castaway. In addition to Esperanza, please take a look at the following cats
- To see Ceara's Petfinder
listing please CLICK HERE. Ceara is a lap cat. She is spunky and smart. Her eyes get a little
goopy, but you just need to gently wipe them once a day, and she is good to go. Not much effort required, and no cost.
- To see Pattycake's Petfinder
listing please CLICK HERE. Pattycake is a sweet girl who enjoys attention. She likes
hanging out with people and adores having the top of her head and side of her face rubbed. Shell gladly sit in a lap and knead her paws to show affection.
She needs to be adopted into a home as an only cat. She would also do best with an experienced cat person, as she can snap from time to time when scared.
She doesnt do this often and its easily controlled by letting her set the pace of interaction with human companions. She needs a home with safety, warmth, and love.
Please consider giving Esperanza, Ceara, and Pattycake a second look. They are all so deserving of wonderful homes after all that they have been through. Thanks so much for reading their story, and considering bringing one of these great cats into your home!
Esperanza is eagerly looking forward to being adopted. To
