"Spay Shawnee"....
Need to get your pet spayed or neutered but can't afford it?Read about SPAR's spay and neuter program "Spay Shawnee" to see if SPAR can help you.
What is "Spay Shawnee?"
"Spay Shawnee" Spay and Neuter Program offers affordable spaying and neutering to low income households only. SPAR verifies need to ensure that the program does not compete with full service veterinarians. A day is scheduled where families bring their pet in by appointment only, drop off in the AM and pick up in the PM. Appointments are made by calling 405-702-SPAR (7727) option 1.
How do I know if I qualify?
In order to qualify, the family must show proof that they are making less than $25,000 per year (proof of pay stub will work) or have a card that shows they are receiving assistance from Medicare, Medicaid, Access Oklahoma, Electronic Benefits Transfer (EBT), for example. Proof of income will be required at time of check in.
Where does the clinic take place?
In Shawnee, at a participating veterinary office.
How long will I have to wait for my appointment?
This depends on how full the schedule is for the current month. If the current month is full, then you will be placed on a waiting list for the next available appointment. Currently that is running approximately a month out.
How often does SPAR hold these clinics?
We hope to hold a "Spay Shawnee" clinic once a month. The clinic is typically held on a day the veterinary office is closed, usually on a Saturday or Sunday.
