Honey

Bubba

I'm a really small Shepard mix; and, I've had things pretty tough. My foster mom took me in when I was just hours away from death. I was severely malnurished; and, I had infected, bleeding, mange sores over about 80% of my body. I was one VERY sick puppy!... I'm all better now, though; and, my hair has even grown back now!!! I'm housetrained, at least when I have a doggie door. I'm a really sweet young lady, I'm just really lonely from having been stuck in a quarantine pen while my foster brothers and sisters got to run and play. I have short hair; and, I crave company; so, I need parents that will let me sleep inside; and, be a member of the family. IF someone is big hearted enough to also adopt my brother Buddy, I'd really like it. We're very close; and, he looks out for me. Click on my pic to read more about me.....

Bubba is a 11 month old Domestic Shorthair male and has always been the biggest, strongest kitten of the litter. He loves to play and is constantly on the run playing with his toys. He is black with white on his chest, hair inside of ears is white, and he looks like he has a white bikini on his lower belly which makes him rather cute. He loves to be held, play and interact with his humans and usually where ever you are he is there keeping you company. He is litter trained, neutered, had his shots, and is ready for a good inside home with lots of attention.

YOUR HELP NEEDED

If you have ever wished that there was something you could do to help poor lost and abandoned pets we urge you to contact SPAR and learn about ways we can help SAVE PETS AT RISK. We are desperate for more foster homes, kitten and puppy season is here. SPAR pays for all medical costs for the animals. Anyone who has a fenced yard or room for a pet and can offer some TLC for these poor creatures would be greatly appreciated and it is a very rewarding feeling when a pet finds a new home, it makes it all worth while. We can only help more pets if we are supported by the community. For more information about fostering a pet go to the Foster A Pet page.

SPAR would like anyone who has a good dog house they are not using to consider donating it to SPAR as we are running short on shelters for the pets. Wire pet crates and Pet Taxi's are also greatly appreciated.

SPAR has several puppies, Bubba (above) and other kittens ready for adoption. They are healthy and playful and ready for a new family. All have have their shots, are on flea/tick/parasite medication and are or will be spayed/neutered at the correct age. Please consider adopting a rescued pet.

DISASTER STRIKES UNEXPECTEDLY: PLAN AHEAD

Ice storms? Fires? Floods? Have a disaster plan ready in case you and your pets are faced with a natural or man-made calamity

In the past 3 years, more than 300 animals have been rescued, received vet care and been placed in homes, said Roberta Wortham, President of SPAR. Members of S.P.A.R. are also working with the city of Shawnee to establish a related group, the Animal Rescue Center (ARC). Plans are to build a new facility next to the Shawnee Animal Shelter where animals can live if they've not been adopted. This will designate the city's shelter as a "no kill" shelter, Wortham said. Currently, unadopted animals are euthanized each week, she said. The Animal Rescue Center's new website is @: www.arcshawnee.org

Behavior problems account for the leading cause of owner relinquishment of pets and resulting euthanasia - we all know it and numerous studies confirm it. Often pet parents just need some help in dealing with the issues they are facing. PETVIDEO.COM can help.

Petvideo.com, created by the founders of Petfinder.com and Petsincredible, provides free online training clips. We encourage you to visit petvideo.com to view the same positive, reward-based training advice featured on the award winning PetsIncredible DVDs ; TRAINING YOUR ADOPTED DOG and YOUR ADOPTED CAT. The new link to Petvideo.com is over at the top of the right column.

Update:

Thanks to the generous sponsorship from Bayer Animal Health, Shawnee, Kansas, SPAR has received a free one-year supply of "TRAINING YOUR ADOPTED DOG" and "YOUR ADOPTED CAT" DVDs for all of our dog and cat adopters (Only about 300 organizations were selected.) Bayer has also included fantastic money saving coupons and offers for free flea and tick preventatives inside the DVD cover.

Membership Has Its Rewards!

To help with our 2008 Membership Drive, SPAR is pleased to introduce some new benefits of membership. Area businesses will be offering discounts to new SPAR members. To view a list of these Membership Partners there is a link over in the left hand column.

We desperately need more new foster homes. Please open your heart and consider becoming a foster parent to one of the great pets SPAR has waiting for new homes. We can only help more pets if we are supported by the community. For more information about fostering a pet go to the Foster A Pet page.
