Several dogs
and cats were adopted into loving
homes during the Peppermint Pig Thrift & Gift’s second anniversary
event
the week of April 21st. The non-profit thrift store is the
primary
sponsor of Safe Haven Animal Sanctuary, a no-kill animal shelter, and
was able
to raise hundreds of dollars for the program throughout the course of
the
event. The
festivities included a meet-and-greet open house with adoptable pets
from Safe
Haven Animal Sanctuary, refreshments and photo opportunities with the
Peppermint
Pig mascot, ‘Peppy.’ Many alumni of Safe Haven Animal Sanctuary even
stopped by
the event.
“Our
second anniversary event turned out greater than we had anticipated,”
Peppermint Pig manager Joyce Hutchinson said. “We’re committed to
helping Safe
Haven find good homes for their animals and raise awareness, and this
event was
a great opportunity to strengthen our bonds with the community.”
Both the
Peppermint Pig and Safe Haven are operated entirely by volunteers. All
Proceeds
from the sales at the Peppermint Pig Thrift & Gift go towards
animal care
and the purchase of a brick and mortar facility for the Safe Haven
Animal
Sanctuary, whose current roster of adoptable pets reside in loving
foster care.
