"I
looked at all the caged animals in the shelter...the cast-offs of human
society. I saw in their eyes love and hope, fear and dread, sadness and
betrayal. And I was angry. "God," I said, "this is terrible!
Why don't you do something?" God was silent for a moment and then He
spoke softly. "I have done something," He replied. "I created
You." ~ Jim Willis |

Who
We Are
Shepherds' Hope Rescue
was formed by two independent rescuers who forged an alliance to more effectively
help our beloved breed. We are disturbed by the alarming increase of German Shepherd
Dogs in the country's animal shelters and in neglectful situations.
 |
Shepherds' Hope
is not a shelter; nor do we have our own facility. As volunteers, we house
our rescue dogs either in our own homes, foster homes if available, or board
them with dog sitters or kennels until placed with their new families.
We make the commitment to each and every animal to resolve any health or
behavioral issues prior to adoption, and all dogs are vaccinated,
spayed/neutered and heartworm tested.
German Shepherd
Dogs are not for everyone, and as long-time, multiple Shepherd owners
ourselves, we are familiar with the type of home/family best suited for this
breed. Also taken into consideration are the dog's needs and temperament so
that both dog and family are happy with the placement. Our application and
home visit process ensures we are placing these dogs in the homes best
suited to them. Our goal is save as many as possible and unite them with
loving and caring owners so that they will never suffer or know sadness and
loneliness again.

Jan. 26, 2010: Holly is now 12 weeks old and is growing by leaps and bounds. She is so, so smart and just a very happy and funny girl. If you are interested in adopting Holly, please fill out an online application.
Holly is our 12 WEEK old puppy that the breeder surrendered to the vet to be euthanized because she thought she had a PDA (heart valve defect). Shepherds Hope was called asked to us to help Holly. Although we knew the surgery would be expensive, we wanted to give this sweet girl a chance at life so we agreed to take Holly.
We brought Holly to the vet for her surgery but the vet felt that testing would be necessary first. It turns out that after these extensive tests (EKG, etc.) that Holly does not have a PDA. Her heart beat is very rapid and irregular but that may be because she is a puppy. The vet told us to keep her for 3 additional weeks to monitor her and bring her back in for testing just to make sure. Holly has had her first round of shots and is going great with her foster pack. She loves her foster brother Cruz who has become her 'big daddy.' We will update you again when we receive further information. Holly wishes you all a very Happy and wonderful holiday season. Yipeeee for Holly!!!!
