Binghamton University Cycling Marathon - March 5, 2005
Thanks to efforts by Nuala Mabe and the
Binghamton University Campus Recreational Services, plus donations by
various BU departments, a cycling marathon was held on March 5, 2005,
with "spinning" classes going from 9:00 am to 4:00 pm. Participants
made donations per hour cycling or solicited sponsors in their quest to
help the Humane Society. Over $540 dollars was raised (!) along with
pet supply donations. For the people who did the cycling, it represents
quite an effort (physically) on their part in the challenge to raise
money. A Humane Society thanks goes to all who made the day such a
success.

Volunteer Orientations 2005
Volunteer orientations are held at the
shelter normally once a month on Saturdays at 11:00 am with
presentations in the upstairs room followed by a walk around the kennel
area. Steve Benjamin of Clicking with Canines gives an introduction and
demonstration of the clicker training being incorporated at the
shelter, and information regarding volunteer opportunities and
guidelines are presented. At each session a puppy "volunteer" assists
Steve in demonstrating clicker training.
