A new volunteer opportunity would involve devoting several hours to spend time at Petsmart, showing the cats to prospective adopters. This is a separate opportunity from the actual care of the cats. As most of the time, the cats are in their cages, prospective adopters do not have the opportunity to interact with the cat out of its cage. By volunteering your time, you can be a great ambassador and help us to boost our adoptions, by introducing adopters to a cat they might be interested in. Weekends would be best as that is when Petsmart is the most crowded, but there is plenty of flexibility as to when you could volunteer, depending on your schedule.

We are always looking for new volunteers to take care of the cats at Petsmart at 1520 Forest Avenue. Currently shifts are available for both morning and evening. Responsibilities include feeding and watering the cats, cleaning the cages, and the most important part: doling out some much-needed TLC to the cats and kittens who are waiting to find homes of their own. If you are interested in helping, please call Clo at (718) 948-5623.

WE NEED YOU!!.. and so do they!!

Donations and Membership

Our Main Source of income is membership. Annual dues, donations, pledges, bi-annual raffles and pet "sponsoring" are among the backbone of our very existence. In addition we hold many fundraising events throughout the year such as bidding auctions, yard sales, a Walk-a-thon, a Holiday Fair, a Spring Fair and pet photos with Santa.

All proceeds derived from our fundraising efforts are used to pay for veterinary services, boarding fees, and advertising. Since all our work is strictly volunteer, 100% of the funds received goes directly into animal care services. Donations are tax-deductible, and may be sent to SICAW, PO Box 120125, Staten Island, NY 10312-0125.

THANK YOU FOR YOUR SUPPORT!!

If dogs are your thing, come join us all week long at 3801 Victory Blvd in the Gracie Square Shopping Center (between the West Shore Expressway and Travis Avenue). Members and volunteers meet there to walk, socialize and exercise the terrific dogs who are being boarded there while awaiting adoption. It's a terrific opportunity to meet new friends, and you will have the satisfaction of knowing that your "hands-on" participation will play an important role in helping us to place the dogs in loving homes. Please call Laurie at (718) 982-7080 if interested in helping out with the dogs.

If you have men who will exclude any of Gods creatures from the shelter of compassion and pity, you will have men who will deal likewise with their fellow men.
