The Board of Governors of the Staten Island Council for Animal Welfare is comprised of dedicated and caring women whose goal is to reduce the number of stray animals on Staten Island and place pets in their forever homes. All Board Members are actively engaged in the following: Animal Rescue Transporting animals to Veterinarians, boarding facilities and adoption events Screening prospective adopters, via telephone, adoption events and home visits Making adoptions Attending adoption events Attending newsletter and raffle mailings Participating in fundraising events, including: setting up tables at fairs and yard sales, selling raffles, transporting items, selling T-shirts, distributing literature and preparing and serving food. Educating the public on animal welfare
No Board Member is salaried. All serve on a voluntary basis. The only compensation received is reimbursement for out of pocket expenses. |

The mission of the Staten Island Council mission is to rescue stray and abandoned animals, provide all necessary veterinary care for their health, and place them for adoption into loving homes.
Dear Members. Benefactors and Friends:
It gives us great pleasure in preparing this annual report to look back at all our successes in 2005. Some of these successes include:
Provided monetary assistance to Noahs Wish, an animal rescue organization helping with the Katrina/Rita relief efforts.
Found homes for 223 of our waifs (140 for our feline friends, and 83 for our canine friends).
Educated the general public on the importance of altering their companion animals and/or stray animals they care for.
Provided a low cost spay/neuter program to the general public so they can alter their companion animals and/or cat colonies they care for, thereby reducing the number of unwanted dogs/cats that are born.
The following is an overview of the income and expenses of the Staten Island Council For Animal Welfare for the fiscal year ended December 31, 2005:
