Meet some of the wonderful cockers adopted through CockerPalsRescue over the past years!

MZ Luna

Our Luna came to us on January 28, 2003 at age 2 1/2. She had been with folks who worked seemingly around the clock so she had very little human contact or socialization and spent most of her time in a crate. Thankfully, they realized that this was not good for her and put her up for adoption. When Joan first brought her here, poor Luna just cowered and wanted to hide. Now she is getting so much better. She enjoys her stuffed LambiePie and Miss Piggie and loves to cuddle in the mornings. ...and did I mention that she just loves to chase squirrelies???? Just can't love her enough." Luna's Mom...Gretchen

"I adopted Mollie on March 30, 2003. Her former owner turned her into a NY shelter saying that she had submissive urination issues. Neither the rescue nor Mollie's new owner witnessed this problem. Mollie is a petite, gentle, loving little girl. She joined a brother, Spencer, and a sister, Hannah, in her new home in CT. Everybody who meets Mollie falls in love with her and always ask me where they can get one just like her! She loves to play with her toys and has the cutest way of throwing them in the air out of her mouth or batting them around like soccer balls to chase them! She's a gem and I'm so glad she is with us!" Mollie's Mom....Dar

"I adopted Maya in October 2003 after fostering her for rescue since July 2003. Maya was only 7 months old when she came to me after being turned into a NY shelter at the tender age of 5 months old. Maya is a sweet, fun loving girl who is very attached to her tennis balls! She joined a brother, Spencer, and 2 sisters, Hannah and Mollie. Maya likes to cuddle and will often curl her face up into my neck in the sweetest way and then look up at me with her beautiful big brown eyes!" Maya's Mom.....Dar

Spencer came to rescue July 2002 as a stray found in Massachusetts when CockerPals went to the shelter to pick up one dog and they asked if she would take another. Spencer was adopted August 7, 2002. He found his forever home in CT and had a new mommy and a buff cocker sister, Hannah. Spencer was diagnosed with Lymphoma in February 2002 and faught a brave and courageous battle against the disease for 15 months. Spencer went to Rainbow Bridge May 10, 2004, you can visit his memorial on our In Loving Memory pages.

"Hope was left behind when her owners moved, in the empty house. When she came into rescue she had several health problems. She had a severe weight problem due to excess water. She had hair loss over many parts of her body, and a cyst on her right front shoulder. She came to Cocker Pals and was diagnosed with protein losing nephrapathyPLN, a disease where her kidneys do not process the protein in her diet correctly. She is on a special high protein low carb diet. The cyst was removed, and after she had healed, she came to us. On her diet, she lost over 15 pounds of water, and is now a svelte 20 pounds. She has regrown most of her hair and is a pretty, loving healthy little girl now. She still worry's about being abandoned, and likes it best when she is touching one of us. She is a true velcro cocker, and although she is slowing down now, we are not too sure of her age, she is a loving sweet baby, and I fell in love with her little face the first time Joan sent me a picture. " Hope's Mom...Kath

Knightlight's Story

Well this Happy Tail began less than three weeks after Midnight Serio went to Rainbow Bridge. A little cocker spaniel named Scotty was saved by a caring lady who pulled him and others out of the clutches of others who would do him harm. How did she do this? She put him on an airplane and sent him to St. Joan d'Bark in New York State. Now he was a very special little boy who was blind and only had one eye that was glaucomed and needed to be removed. Then one day real soon after he got here, I saw his picture and called Joan and asked where he was going. You see I had already fallen for him hook, line and sinker. I made arrangements to meet Joan at our usual place and she was inside having coffee when I got there. I looked through the car window, walked inside and said "I'm in love." Well, Scotty, who was renamed Knightlight came home with me. It was like we knew each other forever. Early the next week we had his bad eye removed and he just healed up so quickly. He was so nice to his doggie sisters who I must admit were jealous when he first came but they gave all that up pretty quick. I must admit that Knightlight has a new "call" name and it is Bunkie cause that is how he gets around. I just love him. Thanks Joan! Karima

Abby came into rescue in March of 2002 when her Dad moved and didn't take her. Abby now has a new family with her own little girl.
Chase was 10 months old when he was rescued from a Long Island shelter. He went to his new home in Aug of 2003.

"Emma was rescued from a puppy mill at age 3. Through Cocker Pals she came here, and was the most frightened, timid dog I have ever seen. She could not even make eye contact, would huddle in a corner, and make herself as small as she could. She would not eat where she could be seen. She slowly started responding to us, and after two and a half years, she has made great strides. She is a happy girl, who loves taking treats from my hand, sleeps on the bed with us, and curls up next to me in the evening. She will always have issues with new situations and people , but she is learning every day of her life. I admire her courage so much, she was so frightened when she came here, and it has been quite a journey for the two of us this past two and a half years." Emma's Mom... Kath

Squirt was only eight weels old when he came to CockerPals- he went to is new home in Sept. of 2002.

These sweet girls were found abandoned along a dirt road out on Long Island laying a sheet. They were wonderful girls who came into rescue 2002 and found a wonderful home together. They both have since gone to the Rainbow Bridge.

Sammy was dumped at my local shelter and apparently had some abuse in his background. He is happily settled in his new home and is a cherished family member. He was adopted in July of 2002.

Dodger was adopted 7/1/03.

He came into rescue from Brooklyn which is how he got his name. He now lives near Syracuse with his new family where he has finished training class and has two children to call his own.

Freddie was adopted June 12 2003.

Freddie was found tied to a car bumper with a broken leg. His new family reports that he has finished obedience class and did very well. They describe him as a loving and cheerful dog. A wonderful turn around for this little guy.

Brownie started out life tied to a door handle in a dirty hallway. She was adopted March of 2003 and is now the official greeter at a small Bed and breakfast.

Benson was tied to a fence and had a rubber band wrapped around his leg that was so tight he had to be put under to have it cut off. Fortunately no permanent damage was done and after be neutered and having his cherry eye fixed he went to his new July of 2003.
