In "Home at Last: Stories from Cocker Spaniel Rescue" the Cockers and their human companions share individual stories of Cocker Spaniels who have survived rocky beginnings to become cherished pets in forever homes. These are stories of the power of love to reclaim and redeem. They are stories of the amazing ability of these precious animals who, despite the pain they have experienced, learn to trust and share their love as a cherished family member. The stories come from the heart and soul and will touch yours. Dogs come into rescue from many different sources and at all ages.

Below are excerpts from a few of their stories...

From a heartless owner to the pound... "My previous owner did not take very good care of me. My hair was so matted and dirty that no one could comb it. When the people at the SPCA asked my owner why he was dropping me off, he told them that he just didn't care about me. He couldn't even tell them how old I am."

Found as a stray... "Susie was found as a stray. When she came to Cocker Pals Rescue she had a raging ear infection. Her ears had been neglected so long and so badly that she was deaf as a result."

Puppies abandoned in a hotel room... "It was a Thursday morning, in mid-September when we received an email about seven Cocker Spaniel puppies needing to come into rescue. These ten-day-old puppies had been found by an Animal Control Officer abandoned in a Hotel room."

From irresponsible puppy mill breeders... "I was rescued from a puppy mill where I spent my days and nights in a little cage with no one to play with me or to love me. The owners of the puppy mill made me start having puppies when I was still a pup myself. As fast as I could have another litter they would breed me. They did not seem to care that I have an eye disease that would make me go blind before I was five and that all my pups could have it too."

Used as "bait" for Pit Bull fights... "I was in Ohio with some people were not at all nice to me. I was used as Pit Bull bait for dogfights."
