Dobbs was on the euthanasia list in a PA shelter before he was pulled by a PALS volunteer. He was considered to be a biter. When his foster family had him groomed it was found that his ears were so
badly matted it cut off circulation so his ears had to be very sore. We feel this was why he was biting. Since he was groomed Dobbs has been nothing but a sweetheart. We found him to be a funny, loving, playful little guy.
His new Mom agrees. Dobbs (now Dobby) has captured the heart of his new Mom and Dobbs took to her the minute they met.

Lady came to CockerPals from New Jersey in June of 2009. Before we looked for a home we took her to Cornell to see if her sight could be helped. Unfortunately the sight in her right eye couldn't be saved
but she had a cataract removed in her left eye and can see fine out of that eye. In Sept of 2009 Lady was ready to go to a forever home. Although we had some interest in her nothing seemed quite right for her. Then in Match
of 2010 Lady hit the jackpot and she went to her new home the beginning of March. The right home is always worth waiting for and that sure was true for Lady. Lady only has to share her new Mom and Dad with a rescued cat and she is enjoying her new life.

Lady came into rescue at about 10 years of age after she was tossed aside when she could no longer breed. Lady was a housedog until she couldn't breed anymore then was thrown outside to survive a PA winter. We got her
into rescue before that happened to this sweet gentle soul. Lady waited over two years for that perfect place to call home and then she found someone who needed her as much as she needed him. She and her new Dad are now enjoying
each other's company. Lady is very attached to her Dad and follows him all over.

Madison came to CockerPals from PA. She lost her original home when the family was having a baby and couldn't keep her. She then went to another home where she did well but lost it because she played too rough with the
tiny dogs in the home. She was headed for a shelter if a rescue couldn't be found for her. After a vet visit for "the works" Madison was ready for her furever home. This long tailed beauty didn't have to wait long! Madison seemed to
know she was home the minute we got to the house. She walked right in like she had always been there, jumped up on the sofa and started giving her new Mom kisses. It was love at first sight all the way around.

Charlene is a Southern Belle coming to NY from Sc where she was treated for heartworms before she got here. Little Charlene was gotten as a pup and once the newness wore off she was thrown into a 6X6 pen and forgotten
about. When she was removed from that situation she was filthy and her collar had to be cut out of the mats. Her lack of socialization has made Charlene very fearful in new situations and she will literally screech in fear, almost as
if anticipating being hurt. Once Charlene knows she won't be hurt she is a sweet loving, gentle little cocker girl who wants to be loved and give love.
Charlene's new family understands her background and are very patient with her. Charlene is now enjoying watching TV on the sofa with her new Mom and Dad.

Eli came to Pals from a NY shelter. He came to the shelter when he was seized by the authorities due to neglect that was reported by a vet. He was very dirty and matted when he came to the shelter and when they shaved
him down they discovered how skinny he really was. After coming into foster care he filled out nicely and was ready to go to a new home. Eli has found that special home with his new family who cared for him enough to work with Eli
through the rough patches as he learned what being cared about and taken care of meant. Eli is a lucky little guy.

Rocky came to us from Georgia where his background is unclear but he was in boarding for a long period of time. When he got into PA he was a mess . It took six baths, three hours and a lot of clipping to find the dog
underneath the mess. But what was uncovered was a sweet, gentle ten year old cocker boy. When we took Rocky to our vet a large lump was found on his left front leg which we believe to be cancerous. Rocky had his special angel come
forward and say that Rocky was welcome to come live out his life with her. Rocky is now enjoying the good life on Staten Island with his Mom and his canine family.

This retired champion cocker came to us after it was found he had the beginning of a cataract in one eye and could no longer be used for breeding. His few years were spent in crates where he was not really allowed to
"be a dog". The first night he was here, he was in the yard with the other dogs and came up limping. We took him the vet the next day where x-rays showed he had torn the ligaments in his "wrist". He had a splint and cast put on so
he could heal. Mojo is healing with his new family and enjoying the good life of a pampered pet.
|
Another "cocker wannabe" Blair (now Bear) came to us from a NYC shelter. When we got him he was a mess. He was skinny, had ringworm, and kennel cough. The first few weeks he was here he spent in a crate recovering
from the ringworm and kennel cough. When he was fully recovered we found Blair to be a happy little guy who loves life and food. Blair has gone from the mean streets of NYC to the burbs of PA and is living the good life with his new Mom and fur brother.

Little Emma came to CockerPals from PA. She was adopted from the shelter and returned when their vet suspected possible kidney problems. Small dog rescues were reluctant to take her due to the possible cost
involved so this little Shih Tzu girl came into Cocker Rescue. X-rays at the vets showed the presence of one kidney and nothing where the other one should have been. Emma had surgery and what was left of the one kidney was
removed only with a large amount of urine. Emma is now living happily with one kidney and is as sweet as she can be. Emma was going to be a permanent member of her foster home but then the very perfect opportunity for her
came along. She is now enjoying all the one on one attention from her new Dad and he is enjoying spoiling Emma as is her extended family. Emma has never met a lap she didn't like.

Taffy came to us from an upstate NY shelter where she was "barefoot and pregnant". The shelter put her in a foster home to have her babies and once the puppies were weaned and ready for adoption they reached out to rescue for
Taffy. Taffy is a delightful little girl who takes a while to bond but when she does she sticks like glue. Her new Mom drove all the way from Florida to NY to adopt Taffy and we couldn't be more pleased for Taffy. The long ride home to
Florida provided serious bonding time and Taffy is now enjoying being a Southern Belle with her new family.

Missy came to PALS from the south. She was only seven months old but had been looking for a home since she was four months old. We found her to be very shy and it was clear Missy had not been exposed to a lot of things.
Fortunately for Missy, her new Mom is a very understanding person and has been helping her to get used to the big world. Her new Mom says this about Missy:
"Missy is just wonderful. She is so much fun and such a loving little pup. We just had our 2nd obedience training session today - I have a trainer who comes into the house. Due to her shyness, this is working well. We'll go to his
group sessions at the doggy day care later. She's learning to come when called, sit, stay and walk on a leash. Most of the training has been mine - learning the terminology and signals. Missy is doing much better than me.
Missy goes for a ride in the car almost every day - sometimes I just go to the grocery store and other times we go to the local state park for a walk. She sleeps on the couch on her back with her feet up in the air. She plays with her
toys and gets a burst of energy around 11:00 at nite. She still has trouble with strangers but is slowly getting more comfortable. "
