Hooker came into rescue from an upstate NY shelter. He was found as a stray, dirty, hungry and covered in mats. When they shaved down the mats, a fish hook was found embedded in his rear - hence the name Hooker. Hooker was in the shelter for some time as they couldn't believe such a wonderful guy wouldn't be adopted. When they could no longer keep him they reached out to rescue. Hooker found his forever home all the way in Virginia where he is now enjoying life as the Southern Gentleman that he was meant to be. Hooker was adopted on 1/19/08. |

Mickey was came into rescue from a PA shelter due to food aggression. When he came into rescue we found he was very protective of his food from the other dogs. This was easily managed by feeding him away from the other dogs. Mickey loves to run and play and is a fun dog to have around. Mickey was adopted 3/17/08. He now has a three old sister to run and play with him and a Mom and Dad who enjoy his antics. |
Sparky came into rescue from a NY shelter. His "owners" brought him to the shelter after had had been hit
by car and they didn't want to deal with the expenses involved in his treatment. X-rays at the shelter showed Sparky had
a hind leg which was broken in several spots. A cast was put on the leg and he spent three weeks in the shelter healing.
He recovered from his injuries and, once in rescue, he had no problem keeping up with the other dogs. Sparky was adopted on
3/26/08. He now sleeps in a king size bed with his Mom and Dad who think he is a wonderful little guy.

Bell was turned into rescue by her family. They had adopted her from a shelter. The children soon lost interest in Bell as she was more of a couch potato then a playmate. Bell also badly needed a dental which they family couldn't afford. We found Bell to be a friendly, mellow, full figured girl. Bell, now known as Maggie, was adopted on 3/24/08. She has a Mom and Dad all to herself and is on a diet to get her girlish figure back. |
Chase came into rescue from a NY shelter where he was turned in my his owners. When he got to the shelter he was a mess. He had not been groomed for a very long time and when the owners tried to cut out the mats they ended up inflicting a big gash on his chest. Rather than take him to the vets they brought him to the shelter. Poor Chase had to have stitches to close the wound and was "put under" to be shaved down. We found Chase to be a happy guy who loves and protects his "things". Chase has finally found that perfect place to call home and now sleeps in bed with his new Dad, enjoys runs in the parks and has a Dad that adores him.

Savannah came into rescue in late January from a South Carolina shelter. She had been dumped there along with others. I suspect she was a puppy mill dog who had recently had a litter. After grooming and being spayed, she was put on a transport heading north to CockerPals Rescue. Due to being involved in another transport the same day, Joan called and asked me if I could meet this little blind, tri-colored cocker girl and keep her overnight. Walt and I did, and for me it was love at first sight. I brought her home, bathed her, and gave her lots of lovin that night. We also gave her a name, Savannah, since she came from the south. The next day we brought her to Joan. Seeing how attached I was to her already, Joan suggested we foster, but we declined. Four was enough. Over the next couple of months I kept tabs on her. I started to gently suggest to Walt that we foster her. I think he knew that if she came, she'd never leave. Well, she did come. On April 12th we had a fundraising meeting and Joan brought Savannah. I called Walt and told him I'd really like to bring her home. He agreed and Savannah came home as a foster. She has done very well in our home and is slowly becoming less timid and scared. She is part of the pack and is very attached to me. On Mother's Day, I received the best gift ever - Savannah. She is now officially a permanent part of our family and my baby girl. We love you, Savannah! Mommy (Sheila), Daddy (Walt), Cheryl, Matthew, Richard, Sarah, Simone, Annie & Emma

Maggie came into rescue after a Good Samaritan found her near death alongside a North Carolina highway. Her fur was badly matted and she had mange, severe infections of the ear, eye, skin and paws that were raw and scabbed up. The Good Samaritan took her to a vet where she was treated back to health and sent to Cockerpals Rescue. During her time at CockerPals a large tumor alongside her left leg was removed and discovered to be stage 3 cancer. After following Maggie's story and feeling a tenderness toward this little girl who had been through so much we decided to adopt her so she could spend her remaining days surrounded by love and a place to call home. Maggie became part of our family on July 11, 2008. She now has a mommy and daddy who love her very much, a Cocker Spaniel sister named Suki, and a Bichon brother named Noah. Delilah was slated for euthanasia in an Arkansas shelter, after she was picked up as a stray, when a poodle rescue pulled her to save her life. They put out a plea to cocker rescues for her. Snickers came to PALS from ASC shelter. The day he and another chocolate were pulled was the day they were slated to be put down. Snickers was a owner turn in perhaps from a breeder. He was neutered at the shelter. On the transport up to NY it was discovered that Snicker's incision site was horribly infected. He got into NY on Sunday and was taken right to the vets office. Snickers had a very bad infection and a hole in the incision site. At that time the vet was not sure there would be enough skin to open and reclose the incision site. Snickers was successfully operated on the next day, a drain inserted and he was put in antibiotics to fight the infection. Five days later Snickers was ready to come home. He is now enjoying life with his new family.
