This handsome two year boy came to New York from a West Virginia shelter. The poor guy ended up in the shelter because he didn't like kids pulling his beautiful ears. Go figure. On his way to my house Jake stopped in at our CockerPals Brunch with about 10 people he didn't know and a dozen other cockers. Jake charmed everyone and was a real social butterfly. Jake is a happy, affectionate guy who wants to be petted and loves a lap to sit in. Jake was adopted January 7, 2007!! |

Peggy's Story Peggy was picked up as a stray late 2005. Then about age 6, she was spayed and had surgery for untreated mammary tumors, with a repeat surgery for more tumor growths later in the year. Luckily, both surgeries confirmed benign tumors. Further information obtained indicates she had probably lived outside for her first 6 years. Peggy is an extremely smart, funny, inquisitive and persistent Parti-Girl, as her Mom calls her, though sometimes this gets her into trouble. Very attached to her foster mom, Peggy acted out when adopted by a family for about a month. Immediately on return to her foster mom, she made it very clear who she thought her Mommy was, and where her home should be! It took the foster family a little longer to accept the idea of adding a 5th permanent dog to their family, but deep down in her heart Peggy's foster mom knew she couldn't go through the grieving she had felt for Peggy, more so than any other foster, if Peggy were again adopted out. Peggy was chosen to be one of the starring dogs to attend a Suzanne Clothier positive training seminar last fall. Peggy will continue with positive training techniques, and her now Forever Mom thinks she would really enjoy agility or flyball classes. Peggy's foster home became her Forever Home on Valentine's Day, 2007! |

Freckles is a red and white parti, about 4-years old, and is on the petite side. He is absolutely adorable with freckles on his nose and the longest eyelashes I've seen yet on a cocker. His owner had to give him up due to her health, though she loved him dearly. She had adopted him from the local Humane Society after he was found tied to the tire of the animal control officer's truck. Freckles is a smart little guy who enjoys going for walks, loves chewing rawhides or pig ears, playing with toys, and especially loves balls and playing fetch. He will talk at times, and is quite the fun and silly little guy. He is also very cuddly, loving to snuggle. He enjoyed Christmas at his foster home, quickly learning how to rip the wrapping paper off his gifts to find the new toys. He is house broken and crate trained, and goes right into his crate at night when told to go to bed, if his new owner prefers to have him sleep with them, I think he would like that as well. Freckles gets along fine with cats and other dogs. Freckles was adopted on February 17, 2007!! |

Gever, about 7-8 years old, lost his home due to an illness in the family. He is absolutely a laid back, sweet natured cocker boy who loves to snuggle. Just hearing his foster mom's voice would make his nubby tail go a mile a minute. Gever loves his rawhides, going for walks, and knows how to "High Five!" and "Shake." Gever's new Dad lost his cocker spaniel, Micky, about a year ago and he and the other resident canine, Ben, a 6-year old happy-go-lucky chocolate lab, both missed having a second dog in the house. Gever's Dad comes home for lunch every day to see his boys, and they also go on daily walks on the trails across the road at the reservoir. Gever was adopted April 29, 2007! |

Noah
Noah, a 12 yr old Bichon Frise, came to CockerPals as a temporary foster at the end of January 2007. His owner had to place him while she cared for her very ill son. Because he was so small, he felt scared around all the bigger Cocker Spaniels that were there so we agreed to foster him in our home. We thought we would have him a few months and then return him to his owner. Noah walked in the door, decided it was a good place to live and proceeded to make himself at home. Noah quickly became good friends with Suki, our Cocker Spaniel (his now 'big sister') and endeared himself to Brian and I. We spent 4 months laughing at his antics and falling in love. Noah's mom felt the best thing for him would be to stay with us as he is so settled in, loved very much and happy. On June 2nd at a CockerPals brunch, we were joyfully surprised with the great news that Noah was officially ours and were presented with an Adoption Certificate. It just doesn't get any better than that! Linda, Brian, Suki and Noah |

Ben and Jerry came into rescue when their Dad's work schedule didn't allow him to properly care for them. They are a bonded pair of three year olds and we would like very much to place them together. They are very shy when first meeting someone and Ben may give a soft growl but that soon passes. They really are a delight pair. They love to play with stuff toys and will often be seen running through the house with each boy carrying an end of the toy. Ben and Jerry were adopted May 26, 2007 and are living the good life with their Mom and Dad! |

Tucker came in to rescue from a severe case of neglect. He was left abandoned in a home and fed occaisionally. Animal Control was notified and the dogs were all brought to a shelter until they could be turned over to rescue. There were 7 cockers in this group and all are in safe homes now. Tucker is about eight years old and totally blind due to a combination of cataracts and glaucoma. Tucker is getting around the house very well and has found the doggy door to go outside. Tucker is another love bug who just wants to be near his person. We brought Tucker to Cornell University to see what, if anything, could be done for his eyes. At Tucker's appointment at Cornell, we learned the pressure in both eyes is at 68/67. He had a procedure done to relieve the pressure and make him more comfortable. Tucker was adopted on 6/8/07 and joins brother Capio who was also a CockerPals Happy Tail in 2007! |

Since meeting Dar's Maya and subsequently going to the Westminster Dog Show, I knew I wanted a black and white parti girl to round out my cocker family. When Joan first posted Robin's picture and story, deep down inside I knew I had found my parti girl. Robin was one of seven cockers brought into rescue from a severe case of neglect. Cocker Pals took Robin along with two others, and they became known as the PA3. Robin had eye problems and was taken to Cornell for an evaluation. She had glaucoma in one eye and a developing cataract in the other. Robin underwent a chemical ablation in the eye with glaucoma and is now pain free in that eye. I continued to follow Robin's story. Thinking three cockers was enough, I tried to resist, but then Joan brought her to brunch and I was smitten. What a sweet, adorable, and loving little girl! She gave lots of lovin to Walt that day and I think she chose us to be her new family. She is my Independence Day baby since she came to live with us on July 4th. We have changed her name to Emma. She settled in very quickly and gets along well with her three cocker sisters, Sarah, Simone, and Annie. She loves her human sister, Cheryl, and brothers, Matthew and Richard as well. She is very playful and affectionate and we just love our new little girl, Emma. Thank you Joan for bringing her into our lives. Sheila, Walt, Cheryl, Matthew, and Richard,Sarah, Simone, and Annie |
