Our Mission

The Queens SPCA is a non-profit organization dedicated to protecting and enhancing the quality of life for domestic and agricultural animals in Queens County, Nova  Scotia. Queens SPCA provides a wide range of services for  homeless, abused, and abandoned animals. The Queens SPCA is the only animal welfare organization in Queens County which has the authority to enforce laws relating to animal cruelty (as directed by provincial headquarters) and to prepare cases for Crown Counsel for the prosecution of individuals who inflict suffering on animals.

Adopting a Friend

Adoptions are initiated with the filling out of our adoption contract. The fee for adoption of a dog is $85.00 and cat adoptions are $70.00. A reduced adoption fee may be considered if more than one cat or kitten are adopted at the same time. These fees also gives you a certificate to have your new pet spayed or neutered. We do follow up on the adopted animal after placement to ensure their needs have been met.

If you would like to complete an Adoption Application you can do so online by clicking on the animal type you are interested in. Just click on DOG or CAT  depending on which you are considering. Please note that the completion of the application does not imply that an adoption is approved.

Animal Rescue

If you are aware of an animal that appears to be in distress due to physical abuse or neglect please let us know so the situation can be investigated.

Depending on the situation we may offer assistance in the form of medical aid or help in finding a new home for the animal. In cases of severe abuse or deliberate neglect the animal will be removed and placed in foster care until a permanent appropriate home can be arranged. In some severe cases it will be necessary to begin legal action against the abuser.

If you know of an animal that you feel needs our help please don't hesitate. Give us a call at (902) 350-2444 or send us an email. Your help could make a real difference in the life of a wonderful animal that can't speak for itself.
