Rita
Hello
Donna, Nancy, Nicole and others,
Just
a note to tell you Rita is doing great. She took to us immediately and
seems very happy. She is so smart and surprises us a couple times a
day. She knows when she needs to go potty (only two accidents), my
oldest rewards her with a treat only after she sits and gives her paw,
and also loves to play fetch inside. She is a VERY loving little girl
and we are very glad to have her. Thanks for all that you do!
Update:
We just wanted to give you an update on Rita. She loves her new home
and is adjusting well. She had her first vet appointment, her vet is
Old Marple Veterinary Hosp., Dr. Catherine Tannert. She did really
well. They did a DAPPD-Series, Lyme Vaccine, KCV Intranasal Annual
Booster and nail trim. The Doc says she is very well tempered. We love
having her here and are so happy to be her family thanks to you. We
will send you updates and pic soon. Keep up your great work.
P..S.-Rita
says she misses all of you!!!!!!!

Rosie (now known as Kila)
Hello all,
Just wanted to give you and update on
Rosie. Her new name is Kila, which is Scottish for lovely, which
she fits to a tee. She's absolutely wonderful! She's
comepletely potty-trained, walks well (except when she sees other
animals that she feels need to play with her), extremely lovable, and
the best friend anyone could ask for. She sleeps with us every
night, under the covers! She likes to be right up next to us.
Kila has an endless amount of energy to play, but knows when it's
quite time and likes to lay on her bed on her own accord.
I wish I knew more about her history,
because someone obviously took care of her and took the time to train
her. The only problem we have so far is with the cats. She
just wants to sniff them and get to know them, but they run away from
her and she thinks they're playing and chases them. The cats are
slowly getting more curious and are not running away, so she just
looks at them to see what they're gonna do.
I've included some pics to show you what a
vicious pitbull she is. We're very scared of her ;-)
Thanks again for choosing us as her new parents. We truly are
the lucky ones in this endeavor.
Brian, Lauren, and Kila

Nina
Dear Almost Home Family,
Dana told me you called to ask about me last week, and says she
wants to bring me to visit you on Saturday! (wag wag smile
smile)
I love my new home, but miss all the love I got from you guys, and
of course I miss all my boyfriends- so I used my puppy-dog eyes to
convince her to bring me for a visit. She wants to know if 1-1:30 this
Satuday would be a good time for us to come? I want to say hello to as
many of people as I can! I'm so excited, I have to go chase my tail
now. Let us know if that's a good time to come.
snuffles and kisses, Nina

Carter
Hello everyone!
I wanted to give you an update on how
Carter has been doing with me in his new home. It's been a
little over a month now and he has been doing wonderful! He
settled right in and has made my home his home as well. And even
though I was dead set against him being on the bed, he cuddles up
beside me each and every night where he doesn't move until morning!
We take an hour long walk twice a day to make sure he gets his energy
out and we play even more. With the help of Steve's training,
Carter is becoming a very well behaved dog whom everyone (animal and
man alike) loves.
Thank you so much for everything!

Pete
Dear Ms. Donna and others at Almost
Home,
Thank you so much for letting us
adopt Pete. We are having so much fun with him. After 10
minutes home, we knew he was the perfect addition to our family.
He loves to be around us no matter where we are and loves to give us
kisses. He is a terrific dog.
Zachery (our son) and Pete are
best buds. They take short walks, play and watch TV
together. Pete's hip is healing very well. We can tell because
Pete is getting spunkier!!
We'll send you pictures soon.
We love Pete. He feels
like he's been part of our family for years. Thanks again.

Ollie
We
adopted Ollie on July 6th and he has been an absolute pleasure!!!
He is getting along GREAT with our other two labs, however, they never
sit still long enough for us to get a picture of them all together.
He loves to do everything! He is such a great boy and he loves to
swim. We had no idea if he knew how, but obviously did because he
followed our other guys right in. He plays tug of war, chase
with our lab "Fat Boy" and loves to retrieve. He is an
expert at hanging his head out of the window on car rides as well as
hanging out wherever we are. He has taken to assisting the other
guys with squirrel chasing. He also likes his lounge time to include
having his belly rubbed. We could not ask for a better dog and
addition to our family. Thank you for making that possible!

Kodiak
Just wanted to give you a quick update on Kody. He is doing
better every day and last night was actually smiling!! Kody is
a dear dog and his intelligence is remarkable. He is bonding
more every day with me and last night while I was sitting on
the kitchen floor, he even came over, lay down next to me, put his
paw on my leg and his head on my lap. What a love!!!
The pack is getting better although my other two rescues are still
vocal at times and I have to lecture them! And they know
what I'm talking about because they quiet down, look at him and
then look at me. Well, gotta go. Have a good weekend.
You guys do awesome work.
Regards,
Judy ( and a very grateful Kody!!) WOOF!!
P.S. Dogs rule!!

Vinny
Just wanted to update you everyone
there about Vinnie ........ yes, we kept the name, we think it fits.
He is such a great dog, loves everyone, but is very protective of
us. He loves his toys (he goes through about 2 or 3 a week), he
has this thing about squeaky toys, he won't give up until the squeaky is
completely torn out of the toy.................at least he doesn't eat
the fluff. He will only sleep in the bed with us and when we're
not there is perched in the bay window like a cat........he is so
cute!!! Some pictures of Vinnie below just hanging out in the
yard.
Thanks, Kim & Al Wolf

Casey (in foster care thru a rescue)
Just
wanted to touch base and let you know how Casey is doing in foster
care . He is doing very well. He loves children and is getting along
good with the other dogs he meets. He has been recently groomed and
will be heading to the vet in a few days for a hw,
erlichia,
lyme test and to have
his stitches
removed
that he still has in from his neuter back in May . This is a
completely different dog then the shy one you remember . Although
he still barks at men each time gets shorter and shorter and
will in no time be ready for a new family . I'm just sorry that
for whatever reason other rescues did not take the time to meet him
and give him a chance.

Little Mike/Chio (now Zack)
Hello,
We just wanted to update you on "Little Mike"/"Chio"!
We re-named him Zack and he is getting along quite well with his
sister Zoe. They played a little rough in the beginning and
still get wacky in the morning and after-dinner! They wear each
other out and then they take a nap together. He's working on his potty
training and he likes to run around his big yard, chew his puppy
nylabone and eat peanut butter from his puppy kong! We will send
you more pictures as he grows, thanks for rescuing him and loving him
so much!

Mufasa
Hi, This is a Mufasa update. He spent
Monday night snoring on a couch, after a long walk, and 2 hrs. of
backyard play w/ my neighbor's 2yr. old high-energy mix. He and my
girl mastiff, Nana (also a rescue), have been ok so far, but she does
let him know when he invades her personal space. This is normal when
sorting out top dog issues. No fighting, just horrible-sounding growls
from her letting him know when he is too near her
"territory". They are in an adjustment period, and it seems
to be going exactly as I expected. Our 2 cats walked right up to
him and said hi, and he didn't give either one a second glance. One
even laid right beside him as if she knew him forever. His very own
dog bed is a twin mattress w/ the blanket I brought for his ride home,
which he claimed as his own immediately. When we're not home to
supervise, we plan to give him the kitchen and two inside porches
secured by a gate tall end secure enough so he and Nana can see, smell
and hear each other safely when not supervised. When we are home, he
and she have free run of the house. He has a vet appt. on Tues.23 for
rabies, heartworm, and physical. He lets me rub his ears w/a towel,
and I'm working slowly towards cleaning them. My neighbor calls him
"Puppy", since he acts like one. Sorry this is so long, but
I appreciate all of you for caring so much. I will send you pics in
the mail in the next week or 2 so you can see how your concern and
care paid off for this young-at-heart 8yr. old giant. Thanks to
all of you for taking great care of this sweet boy!!!
Sincerely, Annette, Bill,
"Puppy", Nana, and the cats.

Pearl
Hi guys!
Sorry it has taken me so long to get my happy tails story to you.
I just wanted to let you all know that Pearly Girl is doing great
with us. She gets along with everyone, and everyone loves her
(even my husband who was very skeptical about getting a pit bull).
She is a daddy's girl and they take naps together all the time.
Pearly snores very loud, and she likes to sleep with her face right
next to yours, she's almost like a person! She seems to have
nightmares every time she sleeps... and I often wonder how
badly she was treated before she was picked up by you guys.
She is very timid with new people and she knows when she is doing
something wrong because she has "guilt" written all over
her face. Pearl and Jazzy play all day long, all night long...
they pretty much play non stop all day every day. Pearl does
NOT like to take a bath, but she sure loves to get dirty. It
takes about three of us to chase her into the bathroom, and she
still manages to find a way around us. She really is a great
dog with a really great personality and I'm hoping that she will
continue to make people realize that not all pitbulls are bad dogs.
She really, really is a sweetheart. I have attached a couple
pictures, but I found it very difficult to get her to sit still
while I took a good one of her and Jazmin. When I get some
better ones I will be sure to send them! Thanks a lot guys for
letting us take Pearl into our lives. We don't know what we'd
do without her!
Love,
Tracey, Jordan, Kyler, Jazmin and especially, Pearl :)

Duke (aka Simon)
Hi there! Just wanted to pop in and say
hi! As much as I loved everyone at the Almost Home Animal Shelter, I
must say, I love living with my new mommy and my 'brothers' Petey and Bo
more! (Petey is the big guy and Bo is the hairy one) We go for walks all
of the time and have lots of fun! I hope all of my friends at the
shelter find homes soon! Thanks again for letting me go home with my new
mommy. I love her! I have to go to bed now, before mommy catches me on
the computer!
Much Love and Puppy Kisses,
Simon

Arthur
I just wanted to let you know that I am
adjusting very well and I love my big brother Salvatore. He licks my
face and plays with me all the time. He even lets me drink from the
same bowl while he is drinking. Mommy and Daddy let me sleep on the
couch and their bed in the morning. I have my own bed to sleep in at
night but I like theirs better. Yesterday we went to the beach and
Salvatore was playing in the waves and swimming. I didn't feel like
swimming but I love to play in the sand. I went to the doctor
yesterday and she said that I am very healthy little boy I just need
to gain some weight because I only weight 59 lbs.
I have to go now but I wanted to say
thank you for picking my new Mommy and Daddy they love my very much
and I am very happy.
I attached some pictures that my Daddy
took of me on the couch.
Lots of licks!!

Foxy (aka Jassi)
Hi-I thought you might like to see
Jassi in her new home. She has settled in nicely. I think she is very
happy. I know that we all are. There are a couple of pictures of Maura
reading a book to Jassi. She reads her a bedtime story every night.
Thank you for all you did for us. You have made our family complete.
Sincerely,
John, Katie, Maura, John, & Jassi Power

Angel
Here are some of photos of Angel in
her new home. We absolutely love her to pieces....she's such a total
sweetheart, as you already know. She is doing
wonderfully....constantly with me wherever I go, absolutely my
shadow. When I pick up her sweatshirt or her leash, she comes over
and jumps onto me with wet kisses. She knows it's either a ride
in the car or a walk thru the park. She also gets along famously
with my little 3lb. dwarf rabbit. They sleep during the day, fur to
fur...and are always licking/kissing each other. I have to get that
on video....because it's too cute. I also found out that Angel
LOVES peanut butter, so its going to be VERY easy to get her
heartworm pills right down....a BIG plus!!!
I will definitely be coming down
with Angel to visit and bringing a bed. As you will see in the
photos, she absolutely LOVES her bed from AlmostHome...so THANK YOU
again for that!!!
Also, THANK YOU once again and
again for ANGEL......she was definitely sent from heaven!!! We
love her!!!! See you soon.
Karen and Angel

Pierre
Dear Almost Home Animal Shelter,
We are so in love. Pierre could not be a nicer dog. He's
already acclimated...so far, NO ACCIDENTS! First, he met my
partner at work~he liked her bunches, but didn't want me out of his
sight, then he met all my neighbors and their dogs~complete
harmony...three of my friends came over~completely socially adjusted.
He ate well. My friends brought him presents and he accepted
them with delight. He seems to favor me, but goes to everyone in
my household willingly.
THANK YOU SOOOOO MUCH FOR DOING WHAT YOU
DO AND FOR TRUSTING US TO RESCUE ONE OF YOUR FAMILY!
Will Keep in Touch,
The Andrae Family :)

Bonnie
Bonnie is a terrific cat. She hasn't stopped purring since she got
here. She's being slowly introduced to the other cats and dogs and so
far no one has hissed or barked! I think they all think she is
my former cat! She loves my daughter and sleeps with her every night.
