ADOPTION INFORMATION
To adopt from our shelter the
following items are required
-
Adoption Application
-
Visit with the Animal
-
Home Visit
-
Adoption Contract
-
Adoption Fee
First, the adoption application needs to be submitted, which can
be accomplished by email, fax, or in person at the shelter. The
application can take anywhere from 10 minutes to 2 days to
approve depending on the time constraints on the office
personnel as well as the day of the week the application is
submitted (i.e., weekend
applications take longer) . Applications are listed on
the animal in the order they are received. The first approved
application will be first in line to adopt the animal, second
approved will be second, and so on, until the animal is adopted.
Once your application is approved, you
and your family will be asked to come to
the shelter to visit with the animal. If
you have other animals in your home, it is recommended that you
bring those animals in to be sure the current pets will get
along with the animal being adopted.
Depending on the animal
in question, a home visit by our Cruelty
Investigators may be required to be certain that the home applying for an animal
is appropriate, and that the applicants themselves have no
questions on containment, training, house breaking, or other
"new animal" uncertainties.
Once these steps are complete, the adopter will need to leave an
adoption deposit for the animals surgery. The animal will then be
scheduled to be spayed/neutered at our clinic. Once the pet is
sterilized the new adopter will need to read and sign our
adoption contract and pay the remaining balance of the adoption
cost. Then the animal and adopter will leave the shelter to
begin their new life together. |
