Some important information to help you move quickly
through the application process:
Our process:
To see the entire RR adoption process in detail, please click here.
1. Fill out the application
You've already done this part!
2. Email your references
Ask them to send a reference letter to rr_refcheck@yahoo.com AND RogersRefs@yahoogroups.com.
Here's a sample email:
Hi, I've applied to adopt a dog through Rogers' Rescues (www.rogersrescues.com). As part of the adoption process, they ask for two personal references. Would you be one of my references? If so, please send an email to rr_refcheck@yahoo.com and RogersRefs@yahoogroups.com. In this email, please tell the rescue how you know me, how long you've known me, and why you feel I would provide a good home for a rescued dog. Thanks for your help!
3. Submit your vet fax (if you currently have pets)
Click here to get to our vetting form.
Print this form out and take it to your vet. Ask them to fill it out and fax it to us at 732-875-1290.
4. Submit your landlord fax (if you don't own your home)
Fax proof of permission to have a dog (landlord letter or copy of lease) to us at 732-875-1290.
5. We'll contact you for a phone interview
We contact you as quickly as we can, but it may take a couple of days. Please understand we're all volunteers, and we do the best we can! We respond to ALL completed applications. If you haven't heard from us within five days, and you already submitted your references, vet fax, and landlord fax, please email us for a status update.
6. We'll contact you for a home visit
Depending on where you live, and how many volunteers live near you, this may take some time. A volunteer will email you to set up a time that is mutually convenient. It is important that everyone who lives in the home be there for the home visit, but it's not a "white glove" test. We just want to see that your home is a safe, comfortable place for a dog.
7. You meet some dogs and hopefully find the right match for your family!
Please be aware that our foster families and the Rogers' Rescues board have the final say on all adoptions, and that approval for our preapproved list does not mean that you're guaranteed to get the dog you ask for. We want to make sure to get the right fit, and that means that the foster family AND the adopters must be completely comfortable with the adoption. However, being on our preapproved list does mean that you'll receive an email before any new dogs are posted on our PetFinder site. Since your application is already complete, as soon as you let us know you're interested, you are prepared to talk with the foster family and decide if it's a match. This puts you well ahead of anyone who sees the dog on petfinder and starts a new application.
