Welcome to our "Featured Families"
page. Below you will find more "happy tails" of dogs rescued
and rehomed to wonderful new families. The only difference between
THIS page and our "happy tails" page is that some of our
families are slightly more camera shy than others! Please check
in often. We plan to update these pages periodically to incorporate
our new families whenever possible. After you've read about some
of these special families, be sure to visit "Happy Tails"
too! Just click here to navigate to
that page. |

Bianca, a female bichon adopted by Bruce & Telva Chase in February
2006, goes everywhere and does everything with her adoptive family!
They were doubtful that she would want to go jet skiing or even
be around the water or on the Maurice River, but the Chases bought
her a life jacket, just in case. They found that she has an inordinate
amount of curiosity and jumped right on board. Her first ride, very
slow and short, won her over. Now, they can't keep her off when
they are at the river. She
comes and barks when she wants to go for a ride! And, she's turning
into a great swimmer, too! She is truly a DVBR success story! Bianca's
former owners had taken her to their local vet to be put to sleep
because she had bladder stones and they didn't want to pay for surgery!
DVBR took her instead, and the rest is history.

Sinbad came to DVBR in June 2002. His family gave him up because
he was TOO MUCH PUPPY for their 80+ yr. old, live-in mom. She was
getting up in years and Sinbad expressed his devotion to her by
jumping up to give her puppy licks. As a result, poor Sinbad was
given over to rescue. Luckily, The Flynns from NJ stepped in and
adopted Sinbad. Sinbad lives now with his new 'mom' Jody, his bichon-brother
Spunky, and his human sister Megan (as well as some other camera-shy
members of the household) in Robbinsville.

Beau was rescued from a PA shelter. A good samaritan "caught"
Beau (a stray) to take him to safety. Unfortunately, that person
knew NOTHING about dog handling. He cornered Beau under a porch
and was bitten for his troubles. Beau was then labeled "biter"
at the shelter and no one was willing to take a chance on him. The
shelter called us, feeling certain he was not a true biter, so we
went and got Beau.
He is now happily living with his new family - Bob & Regina
Button of Jersey City, NJ. Beau even has his own airplane now!

Booker's former family INSISTED that he was a "biter".
We took him in, not knowing what to expect, thinking we may very
well have no choice but to put Booker to sleep. Booker is SUCH a
sweetheart. There is not a mean bone in his body! He's just a softie.
He's now living happily with his new family - the Folz's from New
Jersey.

Murphy and his new *mom* Alice are quite a pair. Murphy was another
Philadelphia stray who wandered into our lives here at DVBR. He
was just a young, sweet, happy-go-lucky little bichon under all
that filthy, matted fur. Once we had him neutered, we found Alice
Moore, a wonderful single lady who wanted to adopt Murphy. He is
the center of her life up in Kinnelon, NJ.

We were contacted by a woman in Philadelphia regarding her neighbor's
dog - Precious, a 4 y/o female bichon. Precious had spent a full
week, in the dead of winter, shivering outside in her backyard,
with no shelter, no food, and no water. Her elderly owner who had
Alzheimer's disease had taken a turn for the worse, and although
the woman's grown son was SUPPOSED to care for her and the dog,
he did not. Shortly after Precious went to her new home, we learned
she had a case of undiagnosed bladder stones. Precious has since
had surgery and is living happily with the Millers from Dresher,
PA.

Roxy's family was no longer interested in having a dog. They were
too busy making travel plans and didn't want to concern themselves
with where Roxy would go during their frequent vacations. That turned
out to be a blessing in disguise though, because Roxy is now living
with Nancy and Dave Kirsh, who take her everywhere - even to restaurants
& on vacation!

Willie
came to rescue in June of 2002. He had previously lived with a family
in PA who felt the 12 yr. old daughter should be the SOLE caretaker
of Willie. Naturally, she did NOT agree, and Willie spent most of
his days languishing in a crate. The family finally realized he
needed a better life. We placed him with the Hammills of Mt. Laurel,
New Jersey and Willie lived happily ever after - with his chihuahua
brother Peanut!
