New Kitten Introduction

iIntroducing a new cat into a home that already has a cat:
- Smuggle it in.
- Take kitten to veterinarian to rule out any contagious diseases that may spread to your cat.
- Give kitten its own room. Let your cat and kitten sniff each other under the door.
- Mingle their scents by reversing their bedding and toys.
- Trade places after a few days so the kitten has a chance to explore the house.
- Confine kitten in a carrier to make the face to face introduction. Let your cat smell the carrier. Expect a few hisses. Never break up a fight by hand. Have a water-filled squirt bottle or can filled with pennies on hand.
- Always give the older cat more attention than the kitten so he knows he's still in charge and loved.
