A SUCCESS STORY

Smokey and Fuzzy were brought to Catman2 by a person who was going West to find a new job. Catman was to care for them until he sent for them or he could place them in a good home should one come along. A sum of money was left for their care. The owner and Catman exchanged e mail for a few weeks then the e mail was returned to Catman “No such address”. The cats had been abandoned. Smokey was 19 years old and Fuzzy was 12. Neither was friendly, spending most of their time on an outside portion of their cage griping and grumbling when anyone new approached them. In time Smokey and then Fuzzy began to trust Catman and Kay(Mrs. Catman), so their photographs were added to the Web Page. Few people will even look at a cat older than a few years. There seemed to be little chance they would be adopted and it took months before anyone did send an e mail asking about Fuzzy. A family in Atlanta fell in love with Smokey and came to see him. Catman was willing to discount or even wave the adoption fee, but the couple insisted on paying the full amount. In less than a week another couple near Murphy, North Carolina adopted Fuzzy. Catman 2 is a no kill shelter and believes where there is life there is hope. We try to avoid accepting older cats and are stuck to care for a few we did take. We hope someday they, like Smokey and Fuzzy will find compassionate people who will take them and give them care and love for their remaining years. A shelter is no place for a cat to die.

"Thanks so much for saving our lives, and all of our ‘feline friends' lives.  Thank you for caring so much.  We wouldn't be alive without you, Catman.  We feline creatures really appreciate caring people like you when others throw us away like rags."

              Thanks again,

              Animal Shelter Kitties

From a letter from Marguerite Weesner, mailed to the Transylvania Times:

"I wish to publicly thank "The Cat Man," Mr. Harold Sims, for his  dedication to the protection of homeless cats and kittens.  On two occasions he has taken in a stray mother cat and her kittens that took up residence in our tool shed when I was unable to care for them.  He regularaly takes in cats and has them spayed or neutered at his own expense, and tries to find homes for them... The service Mr. Sims provides to the area is to be commended.  Again, thank you, Mr. Sims."
