Welcome to PAWS

PAWS, Placing Animals Within Society, is a non-profit organization that was founded in 1990 to help the plight of abandoned, unwanted, and stray animals in Swain County, NC. Through fund-raising activities, donations and grants, PAWS has been able to build a much needed no-kill animal shelter. Donations, memberships, and fund raisers also provide our operational budget.

Monday - Wednesday: 10:30 - 5:00
Thursday: Closed
Friday-Sunday (Adoption Days): 10:30 - 5:00

Directions: From Highway 74, take exit 67 (the main Bryson City exit). Go straight through 2 traffic lights. At the blinking red light, turn left onto Bryson Walk. Travel about a half mile on Bryson Walk and then turn right onto Lemons Branch Road. PAWS will be immediately on your left.
