I keep his crate open and available but he would rather sleep in the big bed with me. He loves to go outside and run around the yard. Two Updates on Previous Adoptions

Elvis' owner writes: I just wanted to tell you that Ali and I are having such a nice time with Elvis. We walk all over South Boston with him, have taken him camping, and also to Nantucket to visit family. He loved walking along trails and running on the beach (he has his Lyme vaccine and Frontline). He is so full of fun and is so affectionate that many of my friends have asked to dogsit. Anyway, I just wanted to tell you again that we are happy that Elvis could come and live with us, I just think that he is the best dog in the world. All the best, Kerry

Update of brother and sister adoption

Note from owner Leslie: Well here they are. The top picture is Eddie on the run. He loves to run around chasing a ball or his sister Katie. He is full of energy and loves to play with toys.        Click both photos to enlarge

The second picture is Katie. She is just resting up for her chasing game she plays with Eddie. As you can see, they are on the larger size (30 pounds each) of Boston Terriers. I know that they love their food and their treats so this could be why! (ha ha) They are very entertaining and good company as well. Thanks again!! We will send you more pictures as time goes on. Leslie

Boston Terrier finds a home

A very nice woman named Sue adopted a sweet Boston named Simon last year from Roie. He had suffered a spinal injury and had trouble walking & getting around. She works for a vet & offered to have her vet (neurology specialist) work with Simon now renamed & called Wendell. With her love & special care he is now doing great - walking & running! She just adopted a 2nd Boston Terrier named Butterball yesterday to be a friend for Wendell. Butter's family could no longer keep him as they had no time for him and could not potty train him. The pic is the two dogs - Wendell is on right. Letter from Sue announcing the arrival of their new Boston Terrier:

Hello everyone, Hope you like the picture. Wendell (othe right & special needs dog) was adopted by us last summer and now he has a brother "Butterball".
We just picked him up today and he seems to be fitting into the family very well. Sue

Two Special-needs pups are saved from death row and find a home

Two pups from SC were scheduled to be put down in a gas chamber because they had deformed legs & no one wanted them. All the other pups in the litter were adopted. Roie adopted them and sent them to a foster home. Here is the message from their foster mom:

My vet sent the pups x-rays to an orthopedist, and I just heard back. She
said all the joints are there and she recommends physical therapy,
hydrotherapy and range of motion exercises. She says it's possible that the ligaments and tendons are too tight, but now is the perfect time to try to loosen things up and get the legs growing more in the right direction while they are still young. The pup that has both legs affected may benefit from some sort of "binding" to hold his legs a little closer together while he
walks, because his legs like to go out to the side a lot. She doesn't feel surgery is the answer, as the only thing she would do surgically is fuse the joint, and that doesn't seem necessary. So it seems to me that the person who adopts these pups will need to commit to spending the time to give them whatever therapy and exercises are necessary to help them. The adopter should really bring them to a vet who can teach them exactly what to do, possibly set up some sort of a program for them, and then follow them.

UPDATE~
Jan C. in MA who is a fantastic friend to many special needs pets over the
years has adopted the boys and has committed to their therapy & care. She calls them Frankie & Johnny. Jan will do whatever is necessary to help these darling pups.

A thank you from Roie:
I can not tell you how happy I am that Jan has adopted the Hushpuppy brothers. We could not have asked for a better home for them! Thanks to all of you who helped save Frankie & Johnny - there is a special place in my heart for all of you! Fondly, Roie
