We want
to reach out to all of you for help. The thing we really need the most right
now is to find homes (foster or permanent ones) for the many dogs & cats
we have here in our Mexico rescue. There is no place for them & we can
not put them at the Centro de Acopio (City animal collection center) as they
will only be able to stay there for 72 hours before being put down (how -
we are not told???).
The 3 places where we have the dogs and cats now are at maximum and many of
the people running these 3 foster facilities will be leaving for the season
to return with their own animals to the states or Canada.
We MUST find places for these pets to go. All of them have been spayed or
neutered, all have had at least rabies shots and some have had more than that.
All have been wormed and treated for any obvious health problems.
Airline
Transportation
It is not a big problem to take pets into the states as long as they are accompanied
by a person. All we need is a health certificate which must be stamped by
the authorities at the airport here. We do all that. We ask people to please
come down on airlines that accept pets so they can take a couple back with
them or possibly drive down & take pets back.
People MUST bring their own crates as they are VERY expensive & hard to
find here. Also, you are the only one who can make the reservation for the
pets to fly. If they are small, they can go in the cabin in a soft sided pet
carrier. Otherwise they must go in the cargo hold. Please check with the airline
you are going to fly with as each has their own rules, regulations & vary
in price for transport. It may be possible to find a cheap airfare if you
check with Travelocity. Airport code for Puerto Vallarta is PVR.
Andrea
says she will pay for the transport costs for any of the dogs she is
fostering just to see that they are not put down here.
Andrea (Casa Andrea) is one of the people fostering many of the dogs and she
is willing to let people stay at her bed & breakfast for a day or two
if they will come down & take back her rescued dogs. We
do have a wonderful woman named Tina who works for the airlines
and she can take 2 dogs or cats back at a time, but needs a place for them
to go.
We will do everything in our power to help get these dogs & cats to a
loving & responsible foster or permanent home. Most of our pets for adoption
