Our cumulative total as of the end of September for adoptions is 1407. We have 10 dogs in foster care. Some of these are awaiting spay or neuter so that adoption papers can be finalized. It has been difficult to find a veterinarian available to do the spay/neuters. Judy is talking to three different vets hoping to make arrangements. We also have a list of community members asking for assistance with spay/neuter. Our spay and neuter total for 2009 as of the end of August is 272.

Shelter volunteers are getting settled in with the new Shelter. Tami White reported that we still need volunteers for weekday shifts. Hours Monday through Friday are 9:30 to noon. If you know of anyone or would like to volunteer please let Tami know, Weekends we are open 10 to 2 on Saturday and Sunday. A room has been dedicated to kittens only and has gotten many good comments. Vaccinations are up to date and we are medicating animals as needed and trying to stay on top of any problems.

Carol is starting to gather items for the next raffle. We have a doggy quilt and a bronze beveled mirror as donations at this time.

Eileen reported she had talked to the Judge to find out if we would get any restitution from the case of the two men who shot the feral cats at the old Shelter in Troy. One served his time and did community service and the second will be going to trial the end of October. Eileen will check again to find out what happens.

New Shelter: A roof is needed for the outside cat area. Judy reported that Alex of AZ Drywall has submitted a plan and gotten an okay from the Inspector. Troy City Council voted for County to take over Animal Control in Troy. The County has no contract with Troy yet. Our original contract with the County did not cover Troy We will ask for $50 for any animals brought in from Troy up to a maximum of $200 per month.

We have been behind on our animals listed on the web. Lynn will get together with Linda Lampton, Jacob Lageschult and see if we can resolve this problem. Judy reported Jacob has been working on statistics on the Shelter computer and we are getting some useful reports and statistics.

The dog Ringo was discussed. He has been taken by three different families and returned. He was accessed by animal accessor who came to the conclusion he is not vicious but he is very dominant and would require special care. She said to never grab Ringo and that he needs to be worked with a choke chain and if he doesnıt behave get him back into the kennel without a treat. Make him sit before he doesn anything. He has no testicles so was never neutered. They may be inverted. We will try to get an appointment with the veterinarian in Kila for a check up and see what she recomments. Lynn will make an appointment.

Tami White made a motion to adjourn, seconded by Connie. We adjourned at 7:25 p.m.
