*All of our foster dogs are kept current on Interceptor (the first of every month) and Frontline (15th of every month - March thru November)

**Each foster is brushed twice a week and fully groomed (bath, blow dry, complete brushing) every 3 weeks until adoption.

Every dog coming into Wayward Collie Rescue recieves:

  • Veterinary Exam
  • Fecal
  • Yearly vaccines (Rabies, Distemper, Bordetella)
  • Heartworm (and treatment if needed), Erlichea, Lyme Disease Test
  • Microchip
  • Toenail trim
  • Dental Teeth Cleaning (if needed)
  • Spay/Neuter (NO exceptions!)

* If the fecal is positive, treatment is given and a follow up fecal should be done to assure all cooties are gone. We will adopt a dog out prior to the "hopefully negative" follow up fecal and will let the new mom and pop know when it is due.

*If the Heartworm, Erlichea or Lyme disease test comes back positive, our dogs are treated, then placed up for adoption after treatment and negative tests are verified.

Our Policies:

We will do a home visit for the purpose of ensuring your compatibility with a pet, as well as your eligibility to own a pet. Most of our canines never known regular food water or human kindness, much less a house. They put an INCREDIBLE amount of trust in us through their initial training. We carefully screen applicants to be sure the adoptees are going to a committed, loving, forever home. They've been through alot and deserve that.

After the pre-adoption form is reviewed and OK'd, we require adopters to complete an adoption contract. We do not discriminate against anyone for reasons of race, religion, politics, gender, or sexual orientation; but reserve the right to refuse adoptions based on the information we interpret from our interviews and the pet's needs or requirements. We try very hard to make every adoption a happy and satisfactory one!

Long Distance Adoptions:

We do adopt dogs long distance. We WILL NOT ship or transport dogs to their new families. You must come to meet your new dog. If you're out of our area and want to adopt a collie, Click Here to email us and we might be able to refer you to a closer rescue.

PLEASE NOTE: As we go through the adoption process, please remember that you are adopting a collie that we or one of our foster homes has loved, cared for and quite possibly nursed back a limb. As we ask questions and call references, please remember that we are trying to assure a successful adoption for everyone involved. We want the dog and their new family to have a very happy life ahead of them.
