We are an all-volunteer rescue and adoption group formed in 2002, to help homeless birds in the St. Louis metropolitan area.  
St. Louis Avian Rescue (STAR) now has 501(c)(3) status, so all donations to our organization are tax deductible. 

Our volunteers foster a variety of bird species, with the eventual goal of placement in forever homes.  We also strive 
to educate and instruct the public in not only the care of companion birds, but in the appreciation of wild birds as well.  
We have volunteers who can speak to children and adults on a range of topics.  We attend community events to 
inform people about our mission and to show some of our available birds.   

St. Louis Avian Rescue (STAR) consists of four elected Officers and a Board of Directors.

ADOPTING A FRIEND:

It has come to our attention that some people are reportedly making statements about individuals and attributing them to our organization.

These statements are not being made by us and are not the position of St. Louis Avian Rescue (STAR). If you have any questions or concerns or have information about the identity of the responsible party or parties, please contact us immediately at 314-995-6233.

Secondly, it has been reported to us that persons who are no longer affiliated with our group have been accepting, as well as keeping for their own use, donations that were intended for St. Louis Avian Rescue (STAR). If you have a donation of any kind that you would like to donate to our organization to benefit our rescued birds, PLEASE contact us at 314-995-6233.

We can give you the list of "approved" persons within the organization who can & will accept donations for our rescued birds. Please do not give your donation to anyone unless you call us first.

Please click on the Adoption Process Button. There you will find an application. Please email or mail your application for review to the address that page. Home visits are required prior to ALL bird adoptions and local adoptions only.

We will not ship any of our adoptable pets. Please don't ask.

All references will be checked for all pets. If approved, you must drive to St. Louis, MO to pick up the approved pet.  Adoption fees may be paid by cash only. 

Applications are kept on file for one year. If you are applying again and it has been more than 12 months since the previous application. Please submit a new & updated application.

Birds are shown by appointment, only after an application has been approved. Our organization 
does not have a public facility at this time. Currently, we operate through a network of loving and caring foster homes.
