To have each cat and dog have a home in the USA alone, every person living in the USA would have to have 7 cats or dogs. And don't forget that cats and dogs are not the only type of pets in this world! Rabbits, horses, birds, snakes, turtles, frogs, guinea pigs, hamsters, ferrets, hedge hogs and all of the other kinds of pets need homes as well. Until there are less pets, more and more pets will continue to go to humane societies, pounds, and be abandoned. This means that many pets each year do not have a home, and are instead killed.
