BRAVO, A RESCUE STORY
Bravo, a retired narcotics dog dumped at the local pound - first news The message that started it:
There is a 6-8 y.o. male GSD in our county pound. This boy was purchased by the county to be used as a drug dog. The dog warden got a call from the deputy that had him asking to have the dog picked up. The deputy stated he could no longer use him but couldn't afford to have him put down. The dog warden had this to say about what he found when he went to pick him up, and I quote, "If the man had been there when I got there, I would have hurt him". The dog was in a pen and the warden said he could smell him before he ever saw him. He was lying in his own feces which COVERED the entire pen. He has bad sores on his hindquarters from it. His nails are so long that they curl back by nearly 2 in. In spite of that, he is a beautiful boy.

The rescue:
This is what rescue volunteer Janice had to say: "I met him today and spent the better part of an hour with him. He has an absolutely WONDERFUL, LOVING personality! He is great with all the other male dogs. The dog warden says he hasn't had the least bit of a problem with him. I walked him for a long time and could see no problems with his hips other then the fact it seems to hurt him walking on those nails. This is one of the most AWESOME dogs I have met in a long while!
Can you help him or do you know anyone that can? I know his age may hurt his chances but I truly believe he would make someone a wonderful companion. I want so much for him to have the chance."
